Yes this is a French hotel, but all the service staff spoke English. We were not interested in joining in the activities around the pool. In fact we would have preferred no poolside activities as it was quite noisy...it probably would have been even worse in English! But if you want a holiday with organised activities, especially for kids, this is not the hotel for you. I would say 90% of the guests were French and over 50 years old. Not a problem for us, but some people might want to be around younger folk. There is a similar hotel but for English people just around the corner called Cortijo Blanco, which may suit some people better. The pool is not as big there though!

Rooms: The first room we were given was large but very noisy (sounded like some kind of generator). We complained and were offered another room, which was much smaller but didn't have the irritating noise, so we took it. This room did however start emitting a strange foghorn-like noise from the bathroom about half way through our stay, which disturbed our sleep quite a lot, but by that point we couldn't be bothered complaining again! Other things about the room to bear in mind:
- No tea/coffee waiting facilities or minibar
- Not many plug sockets (only one in our room)
- No hairdryer
- Safety deposit box - €2 per day for key rental plus €20 deposit (worth it I think)
- There is a TV in the room, we didn't use it but you have to rent the remote control from reception if you want to use it.
- Our room didn't have any outdoor space for drying swimsuits etc (I think some had a balcony though).

For me the best thing about this hotel was the pool. Although it was not a great place to relax and read a book (because of the entertainment) it was amazing for swimming in. It was at least as big as my local pool, and I liked being able to swim lengths in it. The water was incredibly clean - no flies or bits in it at all. I normally get bad eczema when I swim in chlorinated pools but this did not affect my skin at all so I don't know what they use. It was probably the nicest pool I have ever swam in!

There are some excursions organised by the hotel's entertainment team but they are all in French. I recommend a company called VivAndalucia (http://www.vivandalucia.com) if you want to go on any trips. We travelled to Gibraltar with them and it was a wonderful day, and all in English. They have a board up outside the local 'supermarket' near the hotel, and a man was there between 09:00 and 13:00 taking bookings.

It's not exactly a buzzing hub of nightlife but we didn't want to go clubbing. Buddies Bar is the closest place for food and drink, and we were there practically every night. Lovely food and nice atmosphere. The staff are very accommodating too. There is a street of restaurants a bit further along, past the other hotel - we had a nice Chinese there (follow signs for the pizzeria!). There are also loads of restaurants along the seafront and in the actual town of San Pedro. It is also a pleasant 30-40 minutes walk along the promenade to Puerto Banus which is a completely different world, with trendy beach clubs and restaurants. We went there twice and it was nice, but I preferred our quieter resort.

For gift shopping there are some nice market stalls on the promenade (turn right when you get down to the promenade from the hotel). N.B. The stalls are only there on Sunday, so if you see something you like make sure you buy it because they're not there any other day!

Nearest cash points are in San Pedro town or Puerto Banus (both 30-40 minutes walk away). I think you could also get euros from the hotel reception, but no doubt their exchange rate is not so good.

Free wifi in reception area only. It seemed to be a really weak signal though. Fine for very light internet use, but can be frustrating if you need to do something quickly!

IMPORTANT! Do pay out for a private taxi transfer from the airport. We got a shuttle bus because it was half the price, but it meant that what should have been a 45 minute journey actually took 4 hours! So we lost out on an evening of our holiday...NEVER AGAIN!

All in all we had a lovely stay there and would definitely go back. Just make sure it's the right hotel and location for you before booking though.

Room Tip: If you don't like the room they give you, ask to move - the rooms vary a lot!

Went beginning of may with another couple, to be honest we were only looking for a base, but the cost was too good to miss. We stayed on an all inclusive basis, which was worth every penny. The hotel is very clean and the pool is lovely. The staff were friendly although we spoke no French, and make no mistake this is a hotel for the French, with hardly any english spoken especially by the animation team. The real downside was the food, not very good at all, however this did not bother us as we had no intention of eating in the hotel much. Also the aircon was very noisy, again this did not affect us much as it was not too hot If you want a clean place to stay in the San Pedro area then i would recommend this hotel, if however you want to have a "proper" holiday then this would not be the place unless your French.

Room Tip: Improve your French!

The sweet architecture and characteristic andalusian streetscape of pueblo andalus's vast complex may at first seem charming and quaint, but soon prove to be troublesome and a damn nuisance. The tiny alleyway-like streets are dark, and thus cold, and provide excellent conditions for echoing noises, such as people passing or the daily 8am random trolley that always passed by.

The rooms theirself were clean and basic, if old fashioned. Unfortunately, our bathroom windows led to a small courtyard used for storing paint, bleach and miscellaneous building products. This gave our whole room a slightly musty smell which probably caused our daily, trippy, nautia.

The pool area is larger than average, however freezing cold to go with it. Often empty, the pool never seems to heat up, probably owing to its size and depth and it is unfortunate to say that whilst it makes a good photo, it is wasted.

Location wise I would say this is the hotels main draw back. A solid half hour walk from Puerto Banus or an €8 cab fair. Besides two local bars and a supermarket, the immediately local area struggles massively to entertain. The non existent beach is a mundane 20 minute walk through a quiet, uninspiring, high walled road.

A major point to note of this hotel is its clientelle. French OAPs. Nothing wrong with this. Just be warned. The location caters primarily to this market. Expect French tv, French scrabble, French bingo, French boules. Infact, no sooner had we seen 2 coach loads depart than another 2 coaches arrived.

Because of this, the hotel was not ideal for our boys holiday and I would struggle to recommend to any travelling brits.

Room Tip: Refuse room 6. They store paint and misc tools besides the bathroom window..

We stayed here for ten days from 24th April until the 4th of May. The hotel itself was beautiful, set out in lots of lovely courtyards. Our room was spacious, with plenty of storage, and was very quiet. The food was of a good standard, much better than some 4 or 5 stars we have visited, with steak, pork chops and other things being freshly cooked,as well as fresh salads, soups, and various other dishes, from Chinese, Mexican and Spanish. Breakfast was a full English, and there wasn't a day when we were disappointed. The all inclusive drinks were a good selection. The pool was huge, with plenty of sunbeds available. The entertainment was a little disappointing as it was entirely in French, as were the majority of guests. There wasn't much to do in the hotel, but my husband enjoyed archery, and as for me, I was happy with my book by the pool. All in all I had a lovely. relaxing time, and we definately would like to return to this little gem of a hotel.

I stayed here for a long weekend last week and thought this hotel was fantastic. We stayed bed and breakfast and travelled as 3 girls in our 20s. The breakfast was served between 7am and 10am but would recommend getting there before 9.30am so that there is more of a selection. The range of food was brilliant, we had the choice of cereal, yogurt, toast, bread, rolls, pastries, full english.. the lot. Location is ideal, within walking distance to the supermarket and about a mile to puerto banus, the walk takes about 20 mins. Taxis at night cost around 9 euros into the centre of Puerto Banus. Pool was huge! Rooms were very clean, cleaners in every day and given fresh towels. Would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again :)

We booked Pueblo Andaluz for a 9 day holiday early in the season. We found it quite close to the beach on arrival (about 800 metres) . The hotel is very clean. Our room was spacious with a good bathroom (no bath) and the shower always had hot water. There was plenty of storage space. We were up a little flight of stairs in one of the courtyards and it was very pretty with all the flowers. The swimming pool was across a small street and was a good size and spotlessly clean and well kept. We never had any problems finding a sunbed. The wifi only worked in the foyer area and everyone would stand about with their ipads and phones. The big disappointment was the food. We are not fussy eaters and we did always get enough to eat. However, the food was not hot. In fact often the food was cold. They do not have hot storage for their plates. This means the food cools very quickly. They have a microwave sitting in the middle of the dining room so they must know the food is not hot. We were checking out early on the last day and they said they would open the dining room for us to make coffee and get bread or something. However, they had breakdown in communication and the night porter said he wasn't told so we didn't even get a coffee. The guests are mainly French but that wasn't really a problem for us we didn't go to the evening entertainment. There is a free bus outside the hotel on the main road which goes to Puerto Banus. Also there is a bus every half hour to Marbella which is only €1.18 one way. The hotel will organise day trips for you but they are quite expensive. Most evening we went to The Emerald Bar just around the corner - it was a friendly bar with wifi and Sky Sports. If we go to the area again we would hire a car to see a bit more of the region.
