“problematic but good all inclusive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2013

After relatively long trek from the airport, arriving at 11.45pm on the Thursday, the staff were less than attentive !! It took a good hour for them to sort rooms out with less enthusiasm than a beached walrus.. After allocation was made it took the porter half an hr to locate our rooms.. Not bad considering he'd been there a number of years !! On arrival, the single rooms were dingy, old and very dated.. No balcony ( requested on booking ) and just a small top window which didn't close properly.. Less than happy and tired It was decided to leave complaints till the morning.. Come 2am the noise from the bar across the road became a little overbearing to say the least ! Morning comes and time for the guns to come out.. As a fluent Spanish speaker myself It was time to let rip at the receptionist :) A startled face, then a confused one, then an element of surprise came across all at once.. Realizing I was native in the lingo he made immediate checks to solve the matter and we were moved in the day to more tranquil, up to date single rooms with balcony and a TV that worked, to the rear of this massive complex..Time to relax ? yes.. The grounds are superbly manicured with gardeners out daily.. in the main complex there are 2 pools, one big one small at the rear.. Beware the main pool is freezing!! Rooms were cleaned daily (except for last day). There's a sense of freshness to the bar, pool, restaurant area, very clean, and very inviting.. There was only one bar to serve the masses so expect a wait and you can only have 2 half pints at a time! The restaurant is clean and tastefully decorated in a traditional manner. Some of the food looked a bit suspect but was perfectly edible, I did find the breakfast and lunch were the best, though dinner is good with ample supply of local wine. Do beware that at night around the main pool area it can be quite slippy if your not wearing adequate footwear !! There's a nice bodega bar to retire to if you want peace and quiet and gentle but unimportant conversation with fellow turistas.. There's nightly entertainment for the more "British" full English breakfast types and a bar across the road for the don't want to stoppers!! Also across the road is the apartment section to El cortijo with its own pool but beware its right next to the main road.. Overall as a first timer to all inclusive and the initial problems, I did immerse myself into the overall stay and thoroughly enjoyed it.. though there were a few plonkers about.. You get that everywhere! Another 2 things before I bore you to tears.. the complex is located right next to the main road but you will not notice it once inside or even in the main car park thanks to cleaver concrete sections separating the lanes.. And do take a walk down the road to the beach (10 mins) there are some nice eateries there (not cheap) but worth a try if you want something different..

Room Tip: Not sure on that one but family rooms are well equipped with large flat screen TV (extra cost) for E...

Service: satisfactory minus main receptionist| room: clean but dated | food+drink: blah |distance from main attractions + shops: good

Service: upon arrival the rude + grumpy male old receptionist asks for our booking information, then asks for our passports. He then describes where our room is, then says bye (not saying-have a nice stay or anything along those lines)
Cleaners come every day (even if you are in the room) refreshing the towels, laying the beds+dusting.
At the end of our stay, the receptionist literally said to my partner, at 11ish "why are you still here, you need to check out at 12!" Then he proceeded to click his fingers implying haste. That's rude beyond belief!

There's available entertainment-for example archery/shooting.

Room: the room is extremely clean, it has great potential to be a great room if they chose better looking sheets and curtains. I'll advise they stick with simple prints or just a basic bright colour.

Included in the room is a plasma tv with some channels, some programmes having the option to switch over to english if that was what the programme was originally recorded in.
Towels (tick) shampoo+showergel (in sachets-not bottles) (tick)
Internet is at an extra charge (in this generation you even get free wifi in McDonalds! Let alone your bedroom)

It was April, so the nights were quite chilly, there's no heating available. However we were given extra covers.

Overall the room was standard-definitely fit the 3* bill.

Food+drink: Ok-it's a 3* so one shouldn't expect very classy/tasty dishes. If you like Butlins meals, then you'll like the food there.

Breakfast: Always enough stale bread to pick at! Always enough old dusty fruit, always something that has custard around! Yes there's a fry up! And cereal.

Lunch: Always chips! So if you're ever unhappy with the selection, eat chips until your hearts content!

Dinner: There was literally one day that the food hit the spot! They made a nice paella and some beef/lamb thing they call "flemish"

Dessert: blah

Drinks: to eat with your meals you can always have some squash. If you don't like it (like I didn't) there's always water or you can get some coke or something from the outside bar.

If you're a beer drinker you're in luck. There's loads of drinks to pick from. Just non to my liking.

Don't bother ordering a cocktail-they aren't mixed! Just straight out of a tap-just like their wine.

Snack bar: Not snacks but left overs.

Distance: We strolled down to puento banus from the hotel. It took us 30mins. If you power walk it'll most likely take you 20mins. It's just turn right unto the main road then walk straight down until you see a sign saying pueto banus-turn at the exit before the sign.

You can also turn left at the main road towards to san pedro beach. It's a lovely pebble beach. With some great outside gym stuff for those of you that are big kids! That'll take you about 20mins.

There's loads of shops for sweets/souvenirs right outside the hotel. And a few restaurants (italian/chinese) not too far of a walk (about 10/15mins).

Overall atmosphere: during the day, it's very laid back. No early 20s in sight (other than us!) It's definitely not for people 40 or under. It's got a very grandma/granpa vibe about it. Loads of golfers and people that can't handle their drink!

In conclusion: I enjoyed my holiday, but I shall not be returning to this hotel ever again!

Room Tip: Pick a room with a large balcony.

We booked this holiday because of the good reviews it seemed to be getting. When we arrived on the 17th April we thought that the place looked lovely, and were delighted with our room allocated near the tennis courts. The food that particular night was not very good at all. However the breakfasts were excellent, and the evening meals did show some improvement on most other nights. The following day the stag and hen parties arrived, and for the next four or five days and nights, we had a lot of drunken behaviour with shouting and bad language. This spoiled it for us, and although we did enjoy our stay to a certain extent, we will be giving this hotel a definite miss in the future. Its a pity because the hotel with its friendly staff does have a lot going for it.

We stayed for a week from 9th April, and loved every thing about this hotel. The room was nothing special but it was spotlessly cleaned every day, and very quiet.
The staff were all very friendly and helpfull, and the facilities were excellent. Fab pool with lots of sunbeds, great outside patio area with a fantastic bar that opened till 7ish.
We stayed as all inclusive guests and we we not disappointed. The food was really nice with a great choice, and the all inclusive drinks were top notch with all sorts of drinks offered.
We will for sure return here for a holiday and would recomend this hotel to any one.

Room Tip: Rooms over looking theTennis court are larger.

Me and my Partner stayed here for a first holiday together, we arrived at the hotel about 11:30pm due to long transfer proximately 1hour 30mins as we were the last drop off. We were very please with our room it was nice and airey and cleaned 6 days out of 7. it didnt let the sunlight in so you think it was still 5am but really it was 9am, Breakfast was fanstatic alot of choice at breakfast time. and lunch was the same there was always something to eat. Evening meal was Abit hit and miss depending on your taste. You would never go hungry there as between restaurant opening times the snack bar would open and there would always be something to eat in there, the toastie machine was very popular :D i would reccomend. The surrounding too the hotel was beautiful lovely flowers and very clean there was solarium so you catch some better raise, lovely big main pool but took a while for that too warm up but nice when you tempered to it lol. there was a lovely sea front walk just 10min down the straight road that runs along side of the hotel. We walked a few times up to the neasrt town a few shops and an amazing ice cream parlour thats a must go :D we went to porto banus aswell very posh all the big yatch. if you do want to go on a trip there is a man to the right of the hotel where the little supermarket is and gift shop Gilbralter is a much it is beautiful and we went on a dolphin boat trip saw a fair few of those, also there is a few restuarants to the left of the hotel down the road

- chinnese
; pizzeria
- thai

hope this helps with making the right decision and going to this hotel, me and my patner had a lovely relaxing time just what we both needed.

Room Tip: Ask for a room next to the tennis courts they were bigger rooms and much quiter

This is a really nice Hotel. The professional photos show it off perfectly. The rooms are normal size and very clean, some overlook the tennis courts and the small pool, and some overlook the garden. (there appears to be several buildings to this Hotel, some further along the street too). The garden rooms ( we stayed in 1122) are in full sun in the afternoon and till late evening and have a good sized balcony.
Public areas are just beautiful with lovely gardens all round. There is a large sitting area at the pool bar, which is open from 10am to 8pm, and quite a lot of space at the pool for beds. Indoor areas are spacious and nicely furnished. There is also an 'on street' area outside the indoor bar.
The dining room is light and airy, although I think it could be a little cramped if very busy. Food is very good and always hot or cold as necessary. There is a good choice of both hot and cold food available at all meals and for snacks.
This hotel is in a residential area but whilst in the Hotel grounds you would never know, its quiet and totally enclosed by the gardens and it is only a short walk to a beach.
Activity entertainment during the day is provided but Animation due not come round touting for business so you don't have to get involved if you don't want to, and there is enough indoor space at night to abandon the entertainment too if you wish.
The staff are just lovely and do speak some English.
Just a small note: Our room wasn't cleaned until the afternoon and the public areas were washed at the time people were getting about which made it a bit slippery at times.

Stayed here with 3 friends in June 2012 for my hen weekend, as we were late arrving we went straight next door to the bar for some drinks which were very well priced. Rooms were lovely right at the back of the hotel, near the tennis courts - spacious and clean rooms. Food was lovely with lots of choice, the usual all inclusive food you would expect. Drinks at the bar were good measures and never waited long to be served. Pool area and sunbeds were great always found a good spot in the mronings. Pool very clean, safety net put up at night as all the entertainement is done outside in the court yard. Could not fault the hotel on anything, all staff very helpful, night guard on duty was very helpful. Walked into Puerto Banus once but is quite a trek along the beach, taxi is only 8 euro and they do provide a free shuttle bus at certain times.

some of our party are going back in May and we will be retuning next year, absolutely fantastic hotel, clean, tidy, good value for money and worth more than the 3 star it has. would recomend to anyone.

Room Tip: Tennis court rooms are the quietest and largest.
