Great Spanish restaurant with amazing meat, especially the steaks. The best steak I have had in the area. Spanish decor , great atmosphere and always busy.

The restaurants at San Pedro are 20% less expensive than those in the Old Town of Marbella and probably 30% less than Puerto Banus, yet San Pedro is still within the boundaries of Marbella, so it is no distance to travel.
This particular location is mis-named. Bar Alfredo suggests somewhere to drink. While it has a bar, this is not your typical 'bar-restaurant' that you get in Spain. This is more of a restaurant with a bar, rather than a bar with food.
The standard is wonderful, evidenced by the fact that it is packed daily for long, leisurely lunches, by the locals. Clean and with proper tablecloths, the restaurant greets you with a glass cabinet of today's catches and meat from which you can choose.
The menu is a mix of seafood and meat but with a strong Andalucian flavour - lots of local dishes and some of them are wonderful. You can certainly choose dishes for each person, but my group of four instead asked for loaded dishes in the middle of the table, if you like, giant tapas.
Try the grilled prawns, fresh and giant-sized; the hake in sauce, the clams in wine and garlic sauce, the Andalucian stuff pimentos containing rice and seafood, all excellent with a huge chunk of fresh bread to dip into the sauces. The plates were cleaned off - and then get the lamb chops, grilled, bought by the kilo and placed in the centre of the table to pick up and eat al fresco.
The wines are local and or regional and the prices very fair - we got the Lan Rioja Reserva at €14, which is great value.
The staff are busy, but friendly and there's always one or two who can speak English - and the owner wanders around saying hello to everyone.
We will go back....

Found this restaurant a while ago its tucked off the main drag but boys oh boys its a diamond, its a local place but it pulls a BIG punch. Its open and big very Spanish and is run by the man himself Alfredo ! with his big staff, the food is EXCELLENT and FANTASTC VAUE for this part of the world there's a great buzz in the place but it can be a little noisy, but don't let this put you off, the food is to die for fresh fish aaaah, as you enter Alfredos you will see all the food in a cooler on display meat fish prawns etc Dinner for two inc a nice bottle of Spanish Red will set you back € 80 which is good value

We are really sad that we have not discovered Alfonso's before, having spent 9 winter months here in the last 3 years.

This is not one for a romantic meal, a bit bright and the service, if anything, too fast.

Having said that, this is about as good as you get in Andalucia, without paying over the odds. In early January, this was a lively restaurant serving huge fish portions. My tuna (€12) would have probably cost (€8) to buy in France.

The house Rioja was fine at just €12. I just wish they had switched off the TV.

Things will undoubtedly be different in summer, but a very enjoyable, well-priced meal.
