“A very good Italian restaraunt in an interesting location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2012

Bel Mare is situated on the Paseo Maretimo which runs from San Pedro to Puerta Banus, at the river crossing in the area called Cortijo Blanco. The Paseo and a bridge have just been completed in this area and it has brought a lot more walkers joggers etc. A walk from the new Basilica Park which is the Linda Vista end of The Paseo, to Puerta Banus is about 35-45 mins and this is half way. There are 3 very different Restaurants under a rather unprepossesing apartment block, Largos is an excellent Tapas Bar and around the corner is Rafas with a Spanish menu at excellent prices. Bel Mare is run by an Italian / English couple he cooks she looks after the front of house. Is the menu exciting? well not really apart from two liver dishes it is pretty standard but the food is super, some of the best Pasta I have had and top quality meats and fish, the location is great and the staff good fun. Its clientele is regular expats of all nationalities, Spaniards who like a good Pizza, and tourists who seem to return every month or so. It is good value very child friendly and I would recomend highly, but dont expect to be out in 5 minutes everything is cooked individually and at busy times you can wait a while, but with the view of Africa and Gib and the human cabaret passing by ,a drink and good weather why rush.

“Good, cheap Italian food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2011

At first glance it might look run down, but it has a nice atmosphere, with cheap and tasty pizzas.

“Good food but slow”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2011

The food is very good and reasonably priced but be prepared to wait when it's busy. It took an hour to get our starters and a futher 45 mins for main course. One to avoid in the evenings during high season.

“Fantastic pizzas and the friendliest hosts!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2011

My husband, our two daughters (17 and 18) have vacationed in San Pedro for two weeks now, heading home tomorrow. I believe we've been to Bel Mare five or six times (probably tonight as well). Right on the beach, no fuss, no fancy dining, the friendliest of hosts (Merich and Italian husband Alex), as well as two wonderful waitresses (Edina's great). Alex makes an excellent pizza - the crispiest of crusts. Want a relaxing evening? Go to Bel Mare. PS for women - it's outside, so if you get a bit chilly, bring a cardigan. Sincerely Axel and Karen from Oslo.

“Finest Italian home cooking at reasonable prices”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2011

Bel Mare is one of those restaurants which is always busy because the food is very good and reasonably priced. Italian home cooking at its best, but this is a place best known to those who live in the area rather than to tourists. I do not believe anyone visiting Bel Mare will go way disappointed. Penne diavolo, calves liver, and any of their pizzas are well worth trying.
