Hotel Camelo in Seia is clean, comfortable and right in the middle of the town. Good value for money and has a good restaurant as well. Seia is a lovely place to buy Queijo da Serra (cheese from the region), However the price of the cheese in the hotel nearby shop was slightly more expensive than the other shops around the town.

Room Tip: Rooms facing back of main street are quieter.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights with our 13 year old daughter to be able to visit the beautiful 'Serra da Estrela' mountain region. Service was adequate although on the second morning I think the hotel was full and the breakfast staff had a hard time keeping the breakfast buffet replenished. Check out was stressful as several people had to queue because only one receptionist was on duty. Our travel agent got us upgraded to a suite but it was nothing special (the hotel is only a three star) so I should think the regular rooms must be a bit disappointing. The suite had two rooms, clean enough (as was the bathroom) but the lighting wasn't very good and dresser drawers and wardrobe doors didn't close properly and decoration was at a minimum. We just felt the rooms could do with a facelift. On our last morning my husband got a hot shower but the water got progressively colder from then on. The hotel is right in the centre of the town and Seia is in a good location for visiting the Serra da Estrela.

Large hotel, but difficult to find (no postsigns). Large swimming pool, wonderful garden with large playground for children. Very quiet location in the middle of Seia, near the tourist information office. Very clean hotel, easily accessible private parking. Warmly recommended !
