“Good fresh fish”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

This is a tiny restaurant in matosinhos, when we went, it was full and had to wait for about 30 min, so if you drop around, be sure to do it early, by the way, finding a place to park the car is not easy either.

While we were waiting, the waiter came and show us the fish available to choose. I love when they do it this way, you can see how fresh it is, the size and the type of fish, since fish names in Portuguese doesn't mean anything to me. They had 3 or 4 fishes, all different and clearly line-caught, so we choose one of them (don't remember the name) with a size enough for the 2 of us. It was delicious.

Beside this, we order a "Caldo Verde", great local soup, a salad, fresh and tasty. Desserts are a must as well, we try the home-made cheese cake, but all of them look great.

For drinking we choose the house wine, a green one ( Vino verde), great as all we had in this place.

I would definitelly repeat here if we visit Oporto again.

“Amazing food and service”
Reviewed May 7, 2013 via mobile

We really felt comfortable at this restaurant even with a minor language barrier they tried very hard to help us with everything. It seems to be family owned and run which was a nice touch. The food was incredible and well priced for traditional Portuguese local seafood. We were more than happy to leave a tip. Little advice don't go on a Monday, they are closed.

“Back to your roots”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

Last week a close friend of mine, who is now living in Washington, came to Porto. I suggested meeting up at Salta o Muro in Matosinhos . It was like travelling in time . Nice smells of home-made cooking , the friendly smile and local accent of the owner , the decoration reminiscent of an old grocer's shop (or 'mercearias' as we say in Portuguese) , where food was sold and meals served in the adjoining room the " tascas ", all of which transported us back to our roots .

The starter , smoked ham , olives and " broa " slowly made me feel at home . The " arroz de grelos " and grilled fish made me travel to my childhood . The smell of caramel on top of " leite creme " rounded of the meal leaving a sweet taste . Nice to go back to one's roots !

“Great fresh fish”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

Awesome food! And good local wine.
We ate out on the pavement at this harbour side restaurant. Next to the commercial port, one should not expect exuberant surroundings but locals are everywhere!
Sardines, sea bass and salad and a great Alvarhino. Not to mention the two local desserts!
Don't get to Porto without visiting this local gem!
