Recently spent a week at Amar as a young couple. Hostel opened in Feb 2012 hence rooms and interior were quite new. Nice simple interior, no more than you really need on a daily basis. Perfect garden where you can spend your afternoons sunbathing on the grass, reading, eating, talking to new people.. probably the best feature of the property. Spotless housekeeping, very clean rooms and communal...Location is very convenient, easy access to town centre, well Amar is actually right in the town centre. Drawbacks.. Start with breakfast. Guys, sorry to say this out loud but please take this as a constructive criticism, breakfast is appalling. Jam, margarine, honey, bread, coffee, fruit juice,cereal... You do not get a praise for this, not in a Mediterranean country. Either charge extra for breakfast and provide a proper one or not at all. Construction next door. Heavy construction starts at 08.00 in the morning making it impossible to sleep any later unless the windows are shut. Do not know how much longer it will take but probably by next season if should have been finished. Staff. Tourism is way more complicated than it looks from outside.. And the staff of a property need to understand this. You do not get your room checked when your customer tells you that housekeeping took away dirty towels but not put new ones in. You do not get to be told to rinse your dishes and place them in the dishwasher if no body is doing so, just before leaving for the day. If as a customer you explain the stains on your bed sheet which were already there, you do not get to be told that you are just shunting away the ordinary, usual excuses. Not every occasion is the same. At the doorstep upon check out, you do not get to be asked about your room key as the first thing, you get to be asked how you stay was... But anyhow, there were occasions that they were helpful and smiley to us and all in all, I would recommend this property to my friends and family.. Ok, a few humble suggestions which might give you some insight.. Property has definetily got the right material for a successful business. Extend the Wifi to every room and the garden. You can generate some extra revenue by selling some beverage, a vendor machine would do. Remove the bathtubs in the bathrooms, they are not adding any value. Compensate it by giving the customer the space needed. Towels, you need to one if not two size larger with the towels. Kitchen equiptment, need more if you are expecting higher volume of guests. Hope this review helps prospect guests and the hotel management...
