“Modern hotel in a fabulous location”
Reviewed August 9, 2013 via mobile

We had a sea view room on the 6th floor.
Me and my parents stayed here for 6 days.
When we went up the room it was well furnished and very clean, but if someone takes your suitcases up it may take 30 minutes due having only one lift for suitcases but not important.
I slept on the sofa bed which wasn't very comfortable but slept a bit. The towels were changed everyday and sheets changed every 2 days. There was a good selection of foods for breakfast but I would of injoyed they changed the eggs and bagon constantly but just left sitting there, I'm not sure we're the food is cooked, maybe in the Jupiter. We has a very good stay and highly recommend a sea view room even if spending that little bit more.
Only problem was the music starting at 10 pm which was the same singer every day, very annoying but anyway, good stay.

Thank you for your comments. We are glad that we have not disappointed on your visit and we will strive to maintain and improve especially on breakfast.
Regarding your comments about the music in the hotel Jupiter right across the street we hope it did cause to much stress, but it did stop at midnight.
We hope to be of service again in the future.

We booked this hotel through Secret Escapes. It was perfect for us. It is located close to a superb beach - out of the front door and right across the road. We had reserved a Prestige Apartment with a side view. The apartment was spacious, clean and contained everything we needed for our holiday. Our apartment was on the 5th floor and, although it had a side view, it did afford a sea view. The apartment was serviced every day, including towel and bedding changes. The bed was massive, too. One of my main complaints about hotel rooms is the noisy air conditioning, which I usually have to switch off at night in order to sleep. Not so with the Hotel da Rocha - the split air conditioning system serving our room was super silent.
Breakfast was a bit of a lottery at first but once we had discovered that the eggs were inedible, and that the bacon was not bacon as we know it, we managed fine.
The staff were very very helpful and friendly, to a man (or woman). The service we received was faultless.
Since we are beach people, the fact that the pool did not look particularly attractive was not a problem. To us it seemed chlaustrophobic, being crammed into a too small space, surrounded by tall buildings, and is in shade in the afternoons. During the mornings the heat there must be stifling.
Praia da Rocha is a busy resort and this hotel is close to The Strip, which presents the only other negative: the noise from the street below in the small hours, caused by the homeward bound late night revellers and that from the "entertainment" provided by the Hotel Jupiter close by.
All in all, though, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Choose a high floor, at or near the front. The side view rooms to the West are shaded by the Hotel J...

We spent 4 nights here (had booked 5) based on TA reviews. The hotel is located on the seafront which is a major positive. It is modern and our room was sizable, clean and quiet. What really let the hotel down were some elements of its service and its breakfast. The breakfast was so poor (for a 4 star hotel) that we only went the first day. The quality of the food was not good. After that we went elsewhere for breakfast. Also, some members of the front desk were not helpful when we asked for advice. When we checked out a day early, nobody asked us why we were leaving early. However, we were asked to pay 20cent for a local call we made. We stayed in 5 Algarve hotels, and unfortunately this was the worst. You also need to pay for car parking.

Room Tip: Ask for a room high up as the town is noisy at night

We got this deal through secret escapes and the suite we had was fantastic...the view was also beautiful, location was perfect...right by the beach and shops. The pool was a bit of a let down - being small, over looked and shaded by 3pm each day. guess thats why its missing its 5th star (aswell as buffet brekky food). PLEASE BEWARE NOT TO BOOK WITH RESORTHOPPER/GREENBUS ALGARVE.....THEY DONT HAVE PROPER DRIVERS, THEY ALSO DONT HAVE NICE STAFF ON THE PHONES, THEY NEARLY KILLED US DURING THE TRANSFER. NO AIR CON, SPEEDING OVER BUMPS AND ROUNDABOUTS, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BOOK WITH SOMEONE ELSE!!! now back to the hotel, you will not be disappointed with the junior suites or better, just be aware that the pool isnt that big but you do have a wonderfully big beach on your doorstep.

Reviewed July 21, 2013

Having previously stayed in Alvor and passed through Praia da Rocha in the wee small hours,we were a bit apprehensive about our stay here from 20th of June to 4th of July.
On arrival we were greeted by Ines, who advised that our room was ready and that we had made a wonderful choice of a deluxe room.We were allocated room 800 on the top floor which had a stunning sea view and a view of the street all the way to the fort. The room was spotless, spacious and comfortable and after a few teething problems with the wi-fi and internet(dealt with pleasantly and efficiently by Pedro)we went out for a walk to get our bearings.

The pool is situated in the middle of the hotel and is very small with approx 30 sunloungers and less umbrellas and although I had read about this before arrival I was still quite surprised at how small it actually was.Half of the pool area was in shade in the morning and then the whole area was in shade from about 2pm onwards.Obviously because the beach is directly across from the hotel, this was not thought to be a problem when the hotel was built, but people with walking difficulties(like myself) were not considered, as to reach the boardwalk and beach you either had to negotiate a lot of steps or walk down an extremely steep and sometimes slippery hill. Not pleasant in 30 degree temperatures!!

I had also read before leaving that there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room and took a travel kettle with me,but for a 4 star hotel I found this quite strange as all the other amenties of a hotel of this standard were available to us ie bathrobes, slippers, toiletries, safe, turndown service.

These were my only gripes about the hotel and the reason for the 4 star rating as everything else was fine.Breakfast was good, hot, varied and plentiful. The location of the hotel was perfect-far enough away from the bizz that there was very little noise at night, but within a short stroll of restaurants and bars. The staff in the hotel were all professional, but friendly and the people were so friendly everywhere we went to eat or drink.
