After reading the negative reviews on TripAdvisor regarding all inclusive package, my girlfriend and I opted for the self catering option.
We were pleasantly surprised with our room (considering we were paying around £20 a night), nice big room with 2 balcony's, kitchen was clean and all cutlery and cookware was spotless. The hotel pool is nice, full of kiddies, as expected, and as we don't have little whipper-snappers ourselves, opted for the beach all but one day. The pool bar is very reasonable with beer on tap, which good!
Lovely beaches and some nice bars nearby for a few midday pints. The few bars and restaurants located close to the hotel closed quite early on week days (albeit we were there at the end of June / early July). The Hotel itself is located about half hours walk to the larger resort of Armacao de Pera, which was well worth the walk, some amazing restuarants.
By day we would stay at the beautiful beach by the hotel which doesn't get busy. Armacao de Pera beach is very popular and gets very very busy. Packed like sardines. By night we would walk to the town for the livelier nightlife and get a cab back for £5.
Would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a cheap relaxing break, or for families. The elderly might struggle as steps/slopes to the beach are steep. Superb value for money.More
