We have recently returned from 2 weeks at Terrace Club, we were unsure what to expect having read some negative reviews on here, however, if you have booked to go, please don't worry! The location is fantastic, 10 mins walk to gorgeous beaches (we swam in the sea every day). 10 mins to the nearest large supermarket- great if you want to cook and eat in. There are lots of excellent restaurants if you prefer to eat out. In addition, we got takeaways from the Thai and Italian restaurants on some nights - great when the family want to eat different things! We didn't hire a car - we didn't move from the resort - why would you want to with such lovely beaches to spend your time on?!

Terrace Club itself was great. The rooms are very spacious (we had a one bedroom for 2 adults and 2 children and it was plenty big enough), and we had 2 lovely balconies. The kitchen is well equipped- although there is a hob but no oven. There is a grumpy man on reception, but he doesnt work 24/7 and to be honest, he is not that grumpy - but we recognised exactly who was being referred to on here ;-)

The pool area is quite small for the number of apartments and there are not many sunbeds, but really the beaches are so close by that this should not be a problem. A big highlight was the bakery - they sell fresh bread throughout the day at very cheap prices. You can also buy milk cheese and ham - although you need to ask as they are not on show. The young staff who work there were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Coffee and cakes are excellent too.

It is worth mentioning that if you arrive late at night, the cafe/restaurant/bar will not be open, so I would suggest taking tea bags and buying milk/wine(!) before you leave the airport. We arrived just after midnight, and the grumpy man kindly waited up for us to tell us how to get to our room, but this kindness did not extend to providing advice on where to get milk or a snack. The resort was very quiet at this time of night (we headed for the beach), however the cafe opened at 8am and we were able to get enough supplies to feed us until we found the supermarket. It really wasn't a problem, but if we go again, I will pick up a few things in the airport.

As others have indicated, the rooms are noisy - you can hear doors shutting frequently, but this really didn't spoil our stay.

All in all, for the money we paid (in the school holidays) this was a fantastic holiday and we would love to return.

just got back from terrace club and after reading all these reviews before i left i was a little unsure as to what we were letting ourselves in for!but....
we arrived on 15th aug(un beknown to us the portugal bank holiday)but apart from the local"bar"being closed, everything was perfect>>the rooms-huge,clean very impressed overall as same for hotel in general, yeah the staff were a little "grumpy" but we found most of the portugese to be the same lol,the pool was very clean and safe(key to get into pool area needed)although i agree with most reviews on here they could do with a few more loungers, but the grass done us fine!lovely shade from palm trees in this area too.the beach is the most prettiest ive ever seen!well worth a visit(5mins from hotel)..the supermarket is around 10 min walk but as others have said its up a steep hill, but if you wander a little you will find a "shortcut"where the hill is not that "steep":)...overall experience was great i would deffinatly go back chilled out realxing quiet hol...hope this all helps:)

Booked a cheap summer holiday for family of four (children aged 7 and 12). Read mixed reviews, but thought we should give it a try.

Pleasantly surprised by the size of the rooms, and the whole apartment. Furniture was basic, but couldn't expect anything else. Rooms were very clean on arrival and efficiently cleaned every other day.

As another reviewer stated, the breakfast was the same every day, but I enjoyed it and the kids did too - certainly enough to set you up for the day.

The "local" beach was excellent, and with a tunnel in the cliff providing access to a neighbouring beach.

There is a supermarket within about a ten minute walk, which has all you would need and a few restaurants about the area. We bought cheap snorkels for the kids and they had great fun in the water watching the fish (so did I...)

Can book tickets at Hotel reception for various attractions - We booked for Aqualand and got a discount and didn't have to wait in the long queue (would advise prebooking).

Downsides - There wouldn't be much for older teenagers I wouldn't think. And I can sympathise with the reviewer who complained about noise. The apartments are tiled throughout and the footsteps and echoes from doors closing can resonate quite loudly. Worst noise, however, was from the seagulls, who do not seem to sleep very much at all....

Really enjoyed it. Would definitely go back.

Pros:
- Beautiful beach a 5 minute walk away with jet skis and paddle boats available to hire
- LOVELY apartments; we were in a 2 bedroom apartment and this had 2 bathrooms and 2 balconies. Very clean and spacious.
- Lord's bar is a MUST- very nice staff and cocktails
- Not too far from amareco de pera centre and albuferia- it cost us 10 euros return to go to the former and about 35 euros return to go to the latter. These are must see places but personally I wouldn't have liked to stay there because it seems too lively- I wanted a nice relaxing holiday with family and I got what I wanted!
- Hot bread available downstairs in the morning- trust me, there were queues for them!!

Cons:
- The supermarket is NOT a 5 min walk away- I'm not too fussy and like walking, but my mum was complaining a lot because we had to walk up a steep hill in boiling heat
-The restaurants are a far walk away, and there is only a small selection of ready made pizzas and sandwiches available downstairs
- The man at reception is very grumpy- he cheered up towards the end but at the start he was very hostile and uninformative. We asked him to call us a taxi into albuferia and had to wait 45 minutes for it- kept asking him to check where it is but he didn't seem bothered
- Too many locals around so its impossible to socialise (due to language barriers)
- Very noisy at night
- Pool area scores 0/0- we went to check it out when we first arrived and we did not return!! Filled with locals trying to get in, did not seem clean and there is no pavement- just grass (I found this very weird) and only a few sunbeds!!

could not fault the apartment large and very clean. We made a mistake in staying half board should of gone self catering as the food was not good - breakfast was same old thing every day - a basket of hard rolls processed cheese and ham slices and a tin of fruit cocktail - thank heavan you could make some toast or would have starved it made you not really feel bothered to get up for and on a few occasions we didnt bother. Evening meal well wot can i say one night there was a large container full of brussel sprouts and the next evening they were there again but in cheese sauce. there was fish every night which was ok but the meat dishes i could not even tell you wot the meat was. pudding was the same every night some custard thing and individual angel delights that tasted like they hadnt been mixed properly.
it had advertised on a board outside the bar live music every night - well there wasnt any when we asked the waiter said friday there is entertainment round the pool - friday came and no entertainment -so my 17 year old daughter was bored senseless of an evening sitting on the veranda with us old folks lol.
they badly need a little shop nearby as the nearest one is quite a trek and in that heat it was a killer walking there.
the plus points were the beautiful beach only a few minutes walk - the pool was kept clean - but they badly need more sunbeds and for the size of the complex the pool area is far too small - had to get there early to even get a spot on the grass.
our apartment was facing the pool and every night around 2am then 5 am they would put on very noisy sprinklers - they kept them running for wot seemed like most of the night - had to leave windows open as no air con so could not block the noise off without passing out with the heat. this has nothing to do with the hotel - but dont seagulls sleep they were making a noise all night long.
reception staff were pleasant enough but not overally helpfull in telling you where anything was unless you wanted to go on an excursion then i take it they were on commission lol.
i live in the north so a week in the sun was all we wanted - not sure if would go back again as not enough going on there.
