“fresh ingredients and charming place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012 via mobile

We have eaten here on several occasions as its near to our home. the quality overall is very good, although it's not cheap and the wines have a higher mark up compared with other enoteca and restaurants in the local area. The ingredients used for the dishes are always fresh and of the season. Last night we had fresh pasta with porcini mushrooms (3 portions) and then 2 meat based seconds (20 euros each... ) the braised beef in amarone sauce was delicious! we spent 110 euros (3 People) for 3 pasta dishes, 2 meat dishes, and one dessert. With these prices it's obviously not a place one would go to often!

“Worth the Search!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2012

I'd read mostly positive reviews before coming to the area, but this place is fantastic!
Very friendly staff! You can tell by the large number of locals who come in, that this is not a
tourist trap. It's a little hard to find......not much signage.

The wine list is good, and prices fair. The food was wonderful, with great summer truffles generously topping our dish.

“Come for the wines”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2012

Situated on the ouskirts of Fumane, with ample parking space. The restaurant is within an agriturismo complex Corteforte, offering truly nice, simple rooms in the rebuilt old farmhouse, surely worth spending a night.

There is indeed a Vinoteca in the building that you pass on your way up to the restaurant. The restaurant itself is not posh, yet tables are set perfectly and stylishly. Service of a young tattoo lady was mediocre rather than commendable, while the landlady seemed to be set on other guests, clearly locals. A young Russian family sitting at a neighboring table was nearly ignored… We went for two courses only, our dishes were well prepared, based entirely on local tradition. Satisfying, but not rewarding in any respect. 13 on a 1 to 20 scale would do.

The best reason why to come is not food though. All wines on the extensive wine list are also for sale – they bring you the packed bottles from Vinoteca to the restaurant. Some magificent older wines with equally magnificent prices – Solaia 1999 magnum for 210 EUR, about one half of its current retail price. As our trunk was already full, I could not use the oportunity to add some other equally underpriced gems.

Prices for the meal match the experience. Considering the strong local reputation of the place, they are far from elevated. Yet considering the overal apathetic impression we had, we found them high. It might have been different with some full tasting menu.

Corteforte also produce wines themselves, I tried a few samples and was not very enthusiastic except for one of their amarones, Vigneti di Osan. As we had tried some of the very best stuff in the region earlier that day, I just might be doing Corteforte injustice.

Anyway, come in spring, stay for a night in the main building overlooking vineyards and blossoming cherries, go for a full dinner and take some archive wines home. This is the enjoyable recipe.

“Great food, wine and service!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2012

Amazing quality of food and superb wines. Some of the less expensive wines on the list were not available but the Amarones were superb. Our Soave was produced at the vineyard across the garden from the restaurant! Great food and service and enough English that we could easily order.

“Excellent food and very friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2012

The location is elegant but not posh. The variety of the dishes is very reasonable. The food is excellent and the portions are just fine. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Excellent (and nearly too many) wines and very good recommendations thereto. We also had breakfast at the Enoteca. Small, but good choice of food, very good jams and cakes.
