We already spent 2 nights at the resort last year - as we really enjoyed our short stay then, we came back for a 6 nights-stay. And we're so happy we did!
We were warmely welcomed as "coming home" friends and given the suite we'd been asking for, with a wonderful view and a fabulous bathroom. The whole historic property itself is fantastic, so is the location up in the hills, with wonderful views on the surrounding countryside - don't skip the view on the valley when the mist is rising up, it's just gorgeous!
Having breakfast on the terrasse early morning is such a plesant moment and makes you ready to drive and discover the surroundings - immediate or not: Florence, the Chianti region, Lucca, San Gemignano...And coming back in the evening to find peace and beauty in the Villa is just great! .
Havind dinner in the restaurant is remarkably enjoyable too: the food and wine are delicious and the atmosphere is elegant. Really enjoyed too the limoncello Dario used to bring to us in the living room!
We are feeling we've found top of the Tuscan atmosphere... and probably will be back again!
Thanks to all the most welcoming staff, to Sandra, to Bianca, Tatiana, Viola...Dario (and the people working in the restaurant too).

We found Villa Campestri to be commodious and restful. The setting is picture perfect and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. We arrived one day early--we had only booked one night originally-so we got to enjoy two evenings there. Breakfast is delicious and the atmosphere is elegant and remarkably enjoyable. Internet does not work inside the rooms (walls too thick), but works fine in the main living room. The villa is difficult to find and you need a car here, if at all possible. We loved the setting so much that we have considered moving here!!

Room Tip: Downstairs.....dark and lovely......

We recently stayed at Villa Campestri for five nights. It is a very friendly place, where the owners and employees go out of their way for guests. We reserved a room without thinking about needing a ground floor room (no elevator). Not to worry, they graciously agreed to change our room. As many have observed, this property is historic, but bathrooms have been updated. The food is fabulous. We had dinner every night. Dario manages the restaurant. He speaks excellent English and can describe all the dishes for you. We especially enjoyed the risotto special one night with vegetables and saffron. The filet of beef is also spectacular. The wine is also excellent. All very reasonably priced. The propery is located on top of a large hill. Once you get to the road that goes to the property, you have a 2 mile, narrow, twisty turny, drive. Just be prepared. We enjoyed market day in nearby Borgo San Lorenzo. Florence is easy by train or car. We also drove to the Chianti region and to the medieval town of Lucca. It's about a half hour drive to the autostrada. We had a great time, even when the weather didn't cooperate.

Just arrived home after three fantastic days and I can only agree with all of the previous reviews. Fantastic location up in the hills with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. The staff were most welcoming, the food and wine were of the highest quality and a special mention must go to the restaurant manager, Dario. Our room (64) was huge with a separate sitting area and views from two aspects. I will certainly return.

It is quite astonishing, how one place can assemble and excel in all elements characteristic to a Region. Starting with a set-up on wavy heels, through the charm of a Tuscan village, with remarkable design and architecture surrounded by a cypress garden. With olive oil made to a theme, in both the restaurant and the spa, I felt we found top of the Tuscan world and might not be found for days.

Villa Campestri is peacefully set in the hills about an hour outside of Florence. The property is lovely and very well maintained. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. There are wonderful walks all around. The olive oil is delicious.

We booked a superior room and were upgraded to a suite on arrival. Unfortunately, the suite was quite drab and may have given us an unfavorable first impression. The resort was booked and we were only able to swap rooms the following day. The suite was excessively dark with only a few dim lamps that didn't provide enough light to read with, the bedroom had only one sliver of window that faced the unspectacular driveway and not the peaceful landscape that the front of the resort offers. The room was heavy, draped in maroon and depressing. The bed, bedding, and amenities were tired and the bathroom was dirty. We were switched to a lovely room the following day with large windows that opened to a pleasant view. The bathroom was clean and the room was all around far more cheerful.

This resort is perfectly comfortable and nice, the grounds are extremely pleasant and the staff is very friendly. We enjoyed our stay after the first night and we would recommend this resort with some things to keep in mind. There is very little lighting throughout - it is dim and dark inside. While most of the old furniture is charming and fits the ambiance, some of the amenities that would make a guest comfortable are simply tired or outdated and not in a way that compliments the style. It is a simple and charming place though that has a lot of character.

Dear Guest,
We are pleased that you enjoyed the second room. Our idea is that a boutique hotel room is like a dress: not everyone likes the same style. At the same time we are confident that our product has been built following the ancient rules of Italian charming remarkable architecture. For example the huge king-size bed in the prestige suite you mentioned and that you didn't like have been recreated using an ancient technique of bedding thanks to artigians working nearby. Villa Campestri is an old country manor first built in the 1222 and then amplified during the centuries. My family restored the whole property with dedition and passion in order to create a pleasant environment for our Guest. Most of the time the dress fits perfectly, sometimes it doesn't. Why don't we try again? We would love to welcome you again in our house.

I stayed at Villa Campestri back in March for a total of 8 nights. The resort is a renovated 15th century villa full of charm and character. If you are loking for a quiet, relaxing place, Villa Campestri is the perfect location. The property is big, and the drive to the town of Vichio is only 5 minutes away. They have a beautifull pool that looks inviting, unfortunately it was too cold while I was there. The rooms are big, clean and nicely decorated. The breakfast is one of the best I have ever had in a hotel: fresh squeezed (do it yourself) blood orange juice, fresh eggs, nice cheeses. The restaurant also serves very good dinners and lunches as well. Their house red wine is delicious. The staff is very friendly, knowlegeble and helpful. Gemma, one of the owner's daughters even called Avis and helped change my rental car return for me when my flight changed!

The only downside to my stay is that there was no cellular reception or wireless internet in my room (#73?) due to the thick walls of the villa. However, the large common area upstairs was quiet and had great reception/wireless connection that was perfect for my needs. The downstairs reception area at the entrance was also very comfortable and made it easy to deal with my daily phone calls and emails.

Overall a wonderful place to stay with well-appointed rooms, great scenery/grounds, excellent food and extremely gracious people/staff. Highly recommended, and I most definitely plan on returning.
