A last minute booking found us at this Villa. What an amazing place! We had a suite of rooms that were beyond all expectations. Beautiful 4 poster bed and stunning furniture. We arrived late and so went straight to the dining room where we enjoyed a sumptuous buffet and fabulous house wine. Breakfast was also a delight. Anna was a breath of Scottish fresh air. It was a privilege to have stayed in such a wonderful villa. Would have liked to have made this as our base to tour the Chianti region but sadly it was booked out. Definitely recommend Villa Il Poggiale.

This Villa was recommended to us by friends, and we were not disappointed. It is a beautiful building in a beautiful setting. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed as were all the communual rooms. The restaurant is very good and serves lunch and evening meals (if required), at a reasonable price. What realy 'makes' a hotel/villa in my opinion are the staff, and in the case of the Poggiale, they were all excellent. I have rarely stayed somewhere where the staff were all so friendly, efficient and helpful - thank you. The Villa itself is outside a small town (San Casciano), which has some nice restaurants and bus/train connections to major nearby cities at very reasonable prices (certainly by UK standards); Pisa, Florence and Sienna are all an easy bus/train ride. The hotel runs an on request shuttle service to the town for $5 eu from 8am to 10pm. The villa has free WiFi which works well in all communual areas but not so well in bedrooms due to the thickness of the walls. Take mosquito repellant - they bite! Overall an excellent experience and one I wish to repeat again. Highly recommended.

I spent a week-end with my whole family (15 members!) for a special anniversary. I was already familiar with il Poggiale, but not all my guests were. The place is beautiful, the service and the food were very good. Following the management suggestions we went around for visiting some of the Chianti villages. The anniversary dinner has been very carefully set up by the Poggiale team . A very relaxing week end, friendly atmosphere.

If you're looking for the Holiday Inn or Tuscan branch of the Hilton, this probably isn't the hotel for you. If you're travelling to Tuscany and wish to find a beautifully preserved, comfortable, peaceful and friendly renaissance villa, then you could not do any better. The location is absolutely stunning and the villa is a wonderful collection of 24 unique bedrooms (the staff kindly showed us around the empty rooms so we could see how different each was), small communal libraries and a fantastic grand lounge with a well stocked honesty bar.

I travel a lot with work spending much of my life in hotels and whereas I rarely come across genuinely rude hotel employees, I can honestly say I have never had the pleasure of dealing with such kind and friendly hotel staff who take a great deal of care and attention to welcome each guest and ensure they have every need catered for. My fiancee and I made a series of requests throughout our stay and each of them was met and exceeded by the staff we encountered. A special mention to Monica, Danielle and Giovanni who went well out of their way to help us at every opportunity and made us feel extremely welcome throughout our stay.

If you're looking for a peaceful, enjoyable, welcoming location to base yourself while you tour the surrounding area, you really wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: Each room is completely unique but the top floor rooms have slightly more light. The suites and family rooms are very large and can easily accommodate 4 people if you're travelling with children or a group.
