A "Mom and Pop" kind of place with wonderful hospitality and great food. Try the asparagus flan for a starter and then the roast rabbit and the swiss chard - ummm!

“Excellent food, more than nice waiter”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2012

We arrived in San Casciano in Val di Pesa a bit by chance, as we were waiting for other friends to join us.
Wandering in the tiny streets of San Casciano, we found this restaurant, una Cantinetta.
Very willing to speak in French, but I stick to Italian, our waiter was very gentle and accommodating.
The food is very fresh and tasty, off course, we were in Italy.
We trusted the waiter for the wine, it was excellent and we paid only what we drunk.

The restaurant has a covered terrasse, where you can enjoy the open air without suffering of the hard sun (and where you can also enjoy a smoke if you like)

“Good lunch stop”

One of the few places open for lunch in San Casciano, this was a decent lunch venue with good food and very friendly service. Recommended.

“Try the Fiorentina!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2012

Really good, unpretentious restaurant, with a nice terrace at the back. We thought the service was great - personable and fun. The drinks list was very limited (unless you're after wine!) but the food was excellent. We ordered a bistecca fiorentina for the two of us to share, with a simple spaghetti ragu for our daughter. The steak was almost a kilo slab of freshly-cut, dry-aged T bone wonderfulness, char-grilled, rare in the middle, seasoned simply with salt, pepper, olive oil and lemon juice. I want another now just thinking about it - fantastic stuff. Good rosemary roast potatoes and grilled veg with it followed by a cheeky creme caramel. 35 Euro for the steak is in line with other local restaurants - well worth it.
