“So lovely to return to our home away from home”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

We recently stayed at BSP for our first wedding anniversay following getting married here in 2011 and we were delighted to return. Happy to see so many familiar faces. This is a home away from home for us. Despite the rain and gloomy weather we were so happy to enjoy the newly modified tree house. Its fabulous, roaring fires and great access to the bar. If you are reading this deciding whether to book - just do it - its gorgeous and such a special place. Thanks once again all at BSP for treating us so well. Until next year .....

Small, elegant, refined and perfect.

The food and wine were first class.

The rooms were individual and perfectly comfortable.

It's like having your own hidden getaway with hosts that understand service and luxury.

We have just come back from a European tour and had booked for 6 nights as the chill part of the the holiday at Il Borgo. Easy to find with a warm welcome and a chilled glass of Prosecco that was gratefully received as we arrived. The fires were alight in the entrance and kitchen area as the weather had gone off (we are English and always seem to bring the rain with us!) It made the place magical so we didnt care it was a bit damp outside!. The weather did improve and we had glorious sunshine. But we did have a dvd (loads to choose from and borrow) in our room all snuggled one night.
The gardens are beautiful and lovely to wander round and take photos. There are lots of secret corners for private moments and its all very romantic - perfect for mini moons, honey moons and anniversaries. I would not have said it was a place for singles (unless in a group) or those with children who will need entertaining. There is a beautiful pool but its not for diving and bombing in!
The house is like a mini stately home and lots of lovely things to touch and covet!!
We stayed in one of the newer garden rooms - Baslico - and we were delighted - we had a great deal of space and our own very private garden and patio. Room service was fabulous - they lit our fire when requested and we ate lunch and an evening meal there too. The staff were discreet and helpful at all times. I loved the lavender and chocolate on the pillow every night and the fresh flowers as well. We had more Prosecco and fruit in our room after check in - a really lovely touch. The bathroom smellies were fabulous......but sadly unnickable as in their own containers - but you can buy them at the Spa.
We did a fun wine tasting and I indulged in a pasta making class - chocolate pasta is the future! Great fun had by all ad it was nice to feel part of a house party when we chose to have company.
The food was very good but be warned that Florentina steak is massive!
The Tree house and bar (think on safari with a big fire place) and cocktails were great and Max was a super mixologist. I now know how to make Strawberry martinis - many thanks - I even found the strawberry vodka in a hyer-market.
Staff were realxed and friendly and approachable - they will chat if you want but know when to disappear if you dont.
Yes love to go back and can highly recommend - its a bit pricey but then the quality is evident in the whole place.
I did plan to see a bit more of the area but that will have to wait for another time as it was so nice to be on the Il borgo island!

Room Tip: Garden rooms are more expensive but you do get that privacy and if staying for a few days its a grea...

Everything about this place is fantastic. It is less like staying at a hotel, and more like staying at a friends beautiful property, with amazing wine and even more amazing food. The rooms are beautiful, with amazing roll top baths, iPods with mood music, and televisions discretely hidden behind paintings.

The best bits:

- The view, and at night there is only one light in the distance.
- The gardens, you wouldn't believe they are only 5 years old, a gardener from hyde park has
just arrived and will be improving them even more
- The pool, beautiful with the Tuscan hills behind
- Mimi the cat
- The tree house bar, amazing at the end of an evening
- Florentine eggs at breakfast
- The tasting menu is really worth it - some food is really innovative which makes it never dull
- The Spa is excellent

I was in Italy for 2 weeks, and made sure that this was the the last place I visited. This is a great idea as it gives your feet some time to recover after 10 days in Rome and Florence and a wonderful place to end your holiday. It is very tempting not to leave, but I did go to Siena on 1 day. Some people I met described it as almost better, or as good as a beach holiday, and I would agree.

Room Tip: All rooms are good - Valle Serena is a fantastic room, and my friends (that I made there) stayed in...

We are a couple from Beverly Hills and this is our second stay at the Borgo Santo Pietro and what can we say? Being in the travel industry specialized in luxury vacations well this is the place to use as a model of PERFECT STAY. The owner Klouse is a genius ...the manager Claudine and staff are incredible...from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave..they are there for you with their elegant ways and discreet in respecting your privacy and making your stay one you will not forget. Everything you expect in a 5 star experience here you have it all...the attention to detail of all the common grounds, the impeccable suites, the breakfast and the attention of all the staff make this the true gem of Tuscany. For all the readers of this review, for all the lovers of perfection, for all the romantic honeymooners, for those who want to plan a wedding or for any special occasion...well this is a must stop when you travel in EUROPE...this is a special place where every corner you smell elegancy, grace and love...the love of the owners that built it , the love of the team that makes this outstanding property come to life and contribute to the success of your stay.

We spent one week touring the best hotels in Italy from the north to the south and decided on the Borgo Santo Pietro. We were not disappointed from the minute we walked through the door Clause the owner and Tanya the manageress made us feel completely at home.

Tanya was our wedding planner and made things very easy as she communicated back to us very promptly and efficiently. We wanted a small wedding and took all 8 rooms in the hotel which made it very exclusive. The service was held in San Galgano Abbey which was a spectacular venue and again Tanya organised everything from bookings, flowers, service, quartet, videographer etc so all we had to do was to relax and enjoy the day.

When we got back to the hotel the canapés where amazing and the 5 course dinner served on the terrace that evening was as good as any Michelin star restaurant I have eaten in. The wine selection was very comprehensive and the sommeliers choice complemented the meal.

The staff were at all times courteous and could not do enough for us. The quality of the rooms were excellent as Clause has clearly paid a lot of attention to the details in every room making them all individual and luxurious.

I would strongly advise any couple wanting a quite romantic weekend to try this hotel as it will not disappoint and neither will the scenery.

Reading through the previous experiences, it's wonderful to see the good ratings, and surprising to read some of the problems people encountered.. Perhaps it all has to do with expectations...

If you're not a spiritual person, Borgo Santo Pietro is simply a beautiful resort, brought back to life by the owners with incredible eye for details. For others, the place is magical. There is so much history there that it's almost tangible. Dating from the 13th century, there are many layers of history stacked on top of each other... (I guess reading the book "House of the Wind" helps as well..)
Everyone however will notice that there is so much thought in all the details around the house, the garden, the flowers in the house, and the rooms. The furniture around the house... All done with love and feeling.

We stayed from Tuesday until Saturday morning and had a wonderful relaxing time.. Borgo Santo Pietro really was an exquisite place for us to have quality time together (15 year anniversary), away from the daily chores...
Excellent breakfast with delicious cappuccino (double... thank you..). The best bread and croissants in Italy (.. possibly because it's not made according to Italian recipes..), fresh juice from the grounds etc. etc. The list goes on.. Wonderful wines, prosecco..
Our days were actually spend on the resort itself.. reading by the pool, at the bar, in the rose-garden, the tree-house. Only one day we walked through the woods to the ruins of the San Galgano church & monestry... Magical...
Lunches were eaten at Borgo Santo Pietro, as were all the dinners. Wonderful food, excellent steak fiorentine, appitizers, starters, etc.. The BBQ was of wonderful quality.. We were at the same time there as the previous guests and I cannot disagree with them more, although I have never eaten in a 1-2 star Michelin restaurant in London... Wonderful gamba's, fresh fish, excellent lamb-chops, veal, sausages. After that, delicious desserts of cheese, fruit etc. All this served with fabulous wines... and not to forget, live music of excellent quality.

And - sure - the price is high, but to us worth every penny.. We expected luxury and were presented with that and them more.
As with any place, at home or when travelling, the feeling for the space is made by the people there. The people at Borgo Santo Pietro are all wonderful. We felt a personal detail to the service that is not something one assumes. And not just from the people visible around us, but also from people taking care of the rooms, taking care for the flower arrangements, the spa... everyone made us feel at home..

Again we would like to thank those people that made our stay at Borgo Santo Pietro unforgettable..
We will be back..

Room Tip: We stayed in the main house, where, I'm sure, all the rooms are of the same beautiful and warm d...
