Tenuta di Papena

We stayed 4 pleasant days at the tenuta and it's beautiful surroundings and enjoyed the
tasteful interior and pleasant reception.
The place is excellent if you don't mind being with "other people", because all the apartments are facing the same centre, where the comfortable couches, chairs and, tables are placed.
There was just one thing, the couple next to us had a baby that cried regularly and unfortunatly
the sound isolation between their and our place was unsufficient, so we could hear their talk and of course the baby.
But all together our stay was pleasant.

We spent 5 nights in one of the flats. It was a basic but comfortable place with the minimum needed for cooking. We loved the courtyard in front of the flats with table, chairs and sofas for eating and relaxing while enjoying the view and the quietness of the place. The swimming pool is beautiful and offers one of the most amazing views we had in Toscane. The wild surrounding gives the possibility to walk along the hill into the woods. The small villages around are very nice to visit, have a drink, eating or for shopping. We appreciated the availability (but discrete) and the friendly attitude of the owner. It is definitely a very good value for money!

We found this lovely location for our first family holiday, and it was everything we hoped for. Genevra and the rest of the family made us feel welcome, even after we called for directions and still toured all Siena before we found Tenuta di Papena!

The apartments had everything we needed, the location is spectacular with views from the eternity pool across the Tuscan hills with Chuisdino on the horizon. A must village village.

A car is a must with so many towns and villages within easy drive worth visiting. The atmosphere is very relaxed and people mix or keep to themselves as the mood dictates.

There was a wide mix of people there during our stay; Brits, Australians, Germans, Dutch and of course Italians. The EURO 2012 tournament was taking place during our stay and one evening we found ourselves having dinner outside when England played Italy! A great balmy summers evening, apart from the result!

Simply put, a great place to get away from the madness, enjoy family, friends and beautiful countryside and great value for money.

Only negative was hot water; it was a bit intermittent during our stay, but when it's 30C outside it wasn't so bad!

We had a lovely stay here in the first week of June. The apartment was spacious and clean, the bathroom is basic but absolutely sufficient for the price we paid. The pool is a really lovely feature to have and we spent many an afternoon in the sunshine enjoying it. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly and the assorted wildlife (horses, foals, dogs and even a hand raised fawn!) just added to the wonderful atmosphere. It isn't really walking distance to any food shops but by car it is 10mins. I would recommend it to a friend and consider it good value for money.

We got back yesterday evening after what can only be described as the trip of a lifetime! My partner and I decided to book the villa after finding it on Owners Direct and what a find it was. We organised every detail of our stay with Ginevra who was more than accommodating with my many questions! The property is absolutely beautiful and the pictures from the website really do it justice. The views are spectacular and it is unbelievably peaceful. The villa itself was stunning - kept in Tuscan style, it had all the necessities for cooking and the ability to dine al fresco was much needed when winding down after a day of sight seeing with a large glass of wine! The other guests we met were an absolute delight aswell and you get a real sense of community when you stay there! Ginevra also very kindly organised a wine tour for us which was the highlight of our entire trip. For anyone who is thinking of visiting I would highly recommend that you ask her about it as we had a beautiful private tour of 3 delightful vineyards and the tour guides and Ginevra gave us a really indepth look into the making of the very lovely Chianti! It was a great place for us to jump off from as we travelled to Verona, Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and the very beautiful Monteriggioni and the local shops are easy to find. I can't say enough about this wonderfully romantic place and we will definitely be going back again!!

We stayed at this beautiful place for 8 nights in May. In general, we are not the “relaxing holiday” types, but this place will melt the hearts of even the most intensive holiday goers. The swimming pool, as you can probably tell by the photographs, is absolutely fantastic. We went in May, so the pool was freezing cold, but the sun is so hot it’s actually quite refreshing! It is worth braving it at least once so that you can have a picture of yourself at the infinity looking out over the hills – you just can’t beat that! There is one apartment overlooking the farm and hills, with the best view, called Girasole – it has the best views but all apartments are equally as beautiful inside. There are cats and dogs running around and it is a working horse farm so you will be able to truly be at one with nature! There is a supermarket in Rosia, around a 10-15 minute drive away to get all of your food etc – and the lovely lady that runs it can sells local wine so you will never go without! This place truly has everything; extremely friendly owners who have a real passion for the place, beautiful natural surroundings, authentic Tuscan settings (including a typical Tuscan courtyard!), a breath taking infinity pool, within driving distance of several popular Tuscan destinations including Pisa, Florence and a 30 minute drive to Siena, it is amongst some fantastic hiking trails, offers incredible local wine, offers horse riding from your apartment and just too much more to mention! If you are thinking about having a relaxing stress-free holiday in this area, this really is the perfect place!

I have a few tips: you need a car (which should be obvious with how remote it is but there is no way you can really get around without one!); you need a good Sat Nav to guide you around the swirls and turns of the Tuscan valleys (surprisingly, our Sat Nav knew exactly where it was, even down to the long bumpy drive way!); you need warm night clothes (there is a reason the monks built their monastery out of stone – it is a great air conditioner!); you need flip flops to walk about the apartment in (again…chilly stone floors!) and lots of good books to read by the pool!

Room Tip: Email her before hand to ask any questions or request a room - she is so friendly and is very helpfu...

We stayed at Tenuta di Papena for 4 unforgettable days. The whole experience was beyond our expectations. An amazingly beautiful setting, with sympathetically-restored buildings, a gorgeous pool with a magical view, very well-appointed apartments, free wi-fi, horse- riding.

It was a great jumping off point for day trips in Tuscany to Florence, Siena, Montepulciano, Pienza, San Gimignano etc.
Our apartment was so sweet and romantic that we immediately fell in love with this place. It was so peaceful and the hosts were so nice and helpful for us.

This place was magical and we cannot wait to return...
