We stayed at Villa di Sotto for three nights and loved it. Sauro made us feel so welcome - he speaks hardly any English, but he definitely makes himself understood & makes you feel very welcome. We stayed in Room 4, which was quite large and also gave us access to a full kitchen. It was very quiet.

Sauro & Paola cooked up a great meal for all the guests one night. They served antipasto, pasta, salad, all-you-can-eat steak, cheese, dessert, and at least 5 kinds of wine. It was great to have such a wonderful dinner with other guests from France, Italy & the Netherlands.

It was great to stay at a B&B in the countryside. It's about 30 minutes from Siena, but you will have a great time just driving through the country and seeing all the castles. Sauro provides a guidebook with several different driving itineraries depending on what you want to do.

Stayed: April 2005

WOW! What a find. Charming, rustic bed & breakfast in the heart of Tuscany (20 minutes from Siena, and 45 minutes from Montepulciano and the Gucci and Prada outlets). I was referred to the Villa di Sotto by a good friend of mine who stayed there last September. Although I ran an exhaustive search, I could not find any reviews on the B&B.

The bed & breakfast is sururounded by a vineyard and meticulously run by a husband and wife team (Sauro & Paola). Our room had a private terrace that had amazing views of rows of grape vines, olive groves and a vibrant sunset. The rooms were not luxurious, but more importantly, they were clean and sizeable. A bargain at less than $100 a night!!!

I normally wouldn't take the time to write a review, but my husband and I had the best overall experience of our trip here (we were also in Florence, Rome and Amalfi). We met couples from all over Europe and Canada. Sauro even offered to BBQ for us one evening. We dined on succulent Florentine steak, amazing pasta, home-grown raddiccio salad and of couse, Villa di Sotto wine!

There also happens to be a gourmet lovers dream 75 yards away from the B&B, a 30-seat restaurant - La Bottega del "30". It's a pre-fix menu of about 8 courses, the chef prepares a new menu daily, depending on what is fresh from her garden - it was one of the best meals of our life! And you can stroll home instead of braving the winding roads of Tuscany in the dark).

If you are looking for an authentic Tuscan experience, look no further! Sauro & Paola will take care of you!
