“Remote and Beautiful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2013

Borgo San Felice is hard to find. Hidden in a remote part of Tuscany in hills northeast of Siena, the hotel is an entire restored medieval village. The houses and palace have been converted to hotel rooms, a restaurant (supervised by Michelin 2 star chef Francesco Bracali, who offers original, if somewhat strange, modern Italian cooking), a spa and a wine shop featuring the excellent wine made at the estate and in the owners’ other winery in Montalcino. The property is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. It’s a peaceful and stunningly beautiful place to stay.

Our tiny room in the main building was not. However, 5 star quality. I have seen pictures of other rooms or suites that do appear to meet a 5 star standard

Room Tip: Try to get a larger room or suite.

This charming borgo has been lovingly restored and maintained with a theme park atmosphere. There is a winery to tour, country roads to explore, and a vastly overpriced restaurant. Still, it is an impressive property worth a visit. They bill themselves as a 5 star hotel but that is only if you are grading on a curve. But certainly a solid 4-stars. Our room was quaint and comfy but stuffy. I doubt we would do a return visit here. There are other options in the area that afford more value. But I'm glad we spent a short time here just to see what they have to offer.

Dear Mr. Dan,

thank you for finding time to leave a feedback of your stay at Borgo San Felice and I sincere regret I haven't had the possibility to meet you personally during your holidays at Borgo San Felice because of the good occasion for me to introduce the feeling we would like to transmit to our guests. This sensation is really the opposite of a theme park....we always work in order to keep our origins at Borgo San Felice....there's still loco people who lives in our property and the mess we have in our church every Sunday is for local people and, of course our clientele is the most welcomed.
Let me just translate (sorry for my bad English) some words about one of the last piece wrote about Borgo San Felice in a very famous Austrian newspaper:
“Sometimes it scares that an entire village was reconverted in hotel. It is not the case at Borgo San Felice: it is still a cozy little village which maintain the charming of a mediaeval hamlet, there’s still Bruna e Peppe living here!”

Warmest regards,
Dario Iaquinto

Service and surroundings at their best!
The hotel and grounds are beautifully maintained.
Rooms are spacious and comfortable.
The restaurant is delicious.
The service was second to none.
Great central location for making day trips to the surrounding towns by car.
Highly recommend to anyone wanting to be pampered for a few days.

We are sure you have heard the expression, "home away from home", well, that's what you get at the Hotel Borgo San Felice! Along with that, the staff are incredibly accommodating, the grounds are beautiful and the food extraordinary. It really is a touch of Nirvana!!!

We would like to add that we had a medical semi-emergency and the front desk crew were fantastic in helping with a very delicate situation ( and being 8000 miles from home, it was great to have that kind of service)!

We highly recommend this establishment!!!

Room Tip: if they are not sold out, ask for an upgrade ( it worked for people we met at the hotel)...

From the moment we arrived we were enthralled with this hotel. The staff was friendly and warm and took excellent care of us. The lobby is nicely decorated and is very cozy with a nice bar featuring a nightly pianist. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The grounds are so beautiful as was our large room. Everything is so well maintained. I can't wait to go back.

We stayed three nights in October and it rained hard for two days. Didn't really matter. We loved just relaxing in this charming village style resort. The room was spacious, the bathroom large and everything immaculately clean. We have been traveling for a while and can honestly say this was the best nights sleep we had anywhere. The beds are so comfortable. We slept with the windows open and even then my wife slept through the early morning thunderstorm. We had breakfast and dinner every day at the resort and found the staff to be exceptionally friendly. After the first meal we were greeted every day by name and shown to our favorite table. The buffet breakfast options never changed while we were there which made it a little monotonous after a while. Our dinners were expensive as you would expect but the food was delicious. The truffle tasting menu on the Saturday night was very delicious with generous portions of truffles. The accompanying wine was the in house winery's chianti and while pricey, was a good match for the steak main. The front desk staff were helpful throughout - taking our bags from the car to the room and back seamlessly. We never had to lift a finger. They also provided mountain bikes and helmets to explore the local wineries and countryside on some of the (steep!) local unpaved tracks that led straight from the hotel. This was a lot of fun as we could ride and watch the grapes being picked up close and in person. Overall I would highly recommend the BSF, even if its hilltop location is a little out of the way and a little hard to find. Its worth the detour.

This relais is actually an old village with a palazzo, guest house, church, Enoteca, vineyard, and now a fitness center, spa, dining room and pool on a hill overlooking working vineyards about 20 minutes from Siena. It is just gorgeous and the guest rooms are spacious, well decorated, and exceptionally clean, with great linens and amenities. Although the dining room is a bit pretentious, there are wonderful restaurants near by. Go for it!
