“"Heaven on Earth"”
Reviewed May 1, 2011

If you are looking for a relaxing time with beautiful surroundings, stunning scenery, fabulous food & wine, excellent service ... the list goes on - then you have found the perfect place in Borgo San Felice. Absolutely stunning! We arrived on the Monday evening with the intention of staying 2 nights before departing for Rome, however 2 nigths became 3 which would have become 4, only for our flight on the Friday! The staff were wonderful and whom we got to know during our stay were not only very professional always providing excellent service but were also able to enjoy the 'craic' (Livio & Marie Eve in particular!)
I had arranged our trip as a Christmas present to my husband as he enjoys his red wine - we can certianly recommend the 2004 Puggio Rosso ( a suggestion of their Wine Waiter - sublime! The food was amazing, with some dishes nothing short of art on a plate (the sugar sphere filled with a light mascarpone cream and fresh strawberries!) - how i want to be back there now just thinking about it! I Can also recommend the asparagus cream with lobster tails and black ink sauce - divine! We were lucky enough to have a peek in the kitchen run by Head Chef Luca, as having a hotel & restaurant of our own we could appreciate! From 6pm daily, we are treated to the beautiful sounds of the grand piano played by resident pianist Aldo, truly accomplished in his profession, both in the Bar and then onto the Restaurant with many a request fulfilled.
During the day, we whiled our time away wandering down the narrow streets of the hamlet which comprises the estate enjoying the beautiful old buildings full of character & charm, around the Square viewing the Church and the 14th C Chapel, enjoying the offerings of the wine shop followed by lazing by the pool and enjoying yet more food & wine!
I could go on & on, but you must go and visit yourself to truly understand how beautiful this place is! The General Manager Achille along with all the staff will be on hand to ensure stay is nothing short of perfect!
We will definitely be returning and much sooner rather than later! Thank you to all the staff who made our stay so wonderfully enjoyable - Borgo San Felice really is 'heaven on earth' and is worthy of every accreditation.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Borgo San Felice. Throughout the stay we were taken care by the wonderful staff , the restaurant could well receive a michelin star for both the gastronomy and the service.A visit to the local "cantine" or to Siena complete the experience.
Rooms located in the different parts of the Borgo and they belong to a 5 star hotel.
The feeling of going back in time is guaranteed by the total absence of modern building around the old Borgo , we were sad to leave but also happy because we did find a magic place where we will be coming back one day....
Special thanks to the charming staff at the bar who graciously advised me when it came to choose a drink at night

We have stayed twice at this hotel. The first time, several years ago, the bedrooms, staff, restaurant and service were sufficiently good to entice us back. The second time was just awful. Our room was dank, dark and cold. The bathroom was like an old lady's B & B with a grim shower. The service in the hotel was awful. One evening, four of us waited 35 minutes just to be given a menu, and when we finally asked if we could order, the waiter (who had been deep in conversation with a table of guests) told us we 'could just wait'. The food, when it arrived, was barely adequate. On checking out, we were asked if we would return. When told, no, reception made it clear they had no interest in why not. A hotel resting on its laurels because of its location.

Dear Sirs,
I was sorry to learn of your concerns regarding your recent stay at Borgo San Felice and at the outset, would like to offer my sincere apologies for the disappointment you have expressed. It is a pity I can read your comments now in January (since November 2010 the hotel is closed for our winter closing time) and I can't date your stay.
I do apologise if our staff let you down on this occasion. Normally our service is exceptional and the difficulties you experienced are not a fair reflection of our usual high standard of customer care.
We are aware that your opinion of our service has been affected by the handling of your concerns and can only hope that in time, you may reconsider your position and choose to stay with us again.

My partner and I were looking for a relaxing, yet exciting escape in central Italy and found Borgo San Felice, a little paradise just outside of Siena. The rooms were spotless and the staff beyond attentive and helpful. With something for everybody from a wine therepy, to wine tasting, to a fantastic resturant you'd never tire of. There was always something to hold our interest in this lovely hotel, or to just sit with a glass of excellent wine and take in the view from our room. Borgo San Felice is our Paradise that we couldn't recommend more to go discover.

Borgo San Felice is an astoudingly beautiful property in the countryside not too far from Siena. The vineyard and olive groves surround you and the restaurant and staff are amazing. You will definitely need a car to travel about, but there are many other fine restaurants and castles quite nearby. We have been there twice and will return again!

San Felice is a breathtakingly beautiful hotel but could be better described as a tiny 14th century town, complete with a piazza and a small church. Full disclosure is - my friends and I were staying in a villa down the street but we spent a lot of time at the hotel. We decided to check out the spa treatments and signed up for massages. The attendant, Christina, was professional and kind, and she gave each of us a fantastic massage. We are picky spa people so this is a sincere compliment and well deserved. At the poolside patio we had snacks and cocktails with great service and we did this on several afternoons. Everyone we encountered was so friendly and helpful. The restaurant was excellent, expensive, but well worth it. We had a giant Florentine steak for three people, very rare as it is, very delicious. Fantastic wine. A great place to have a glass of wine at night and listen to the grand piano. I had a tennis lesson on the court that sits in the middle of the vineyard - great teacher, nice guy, beautiful location. The hotel is spread out with many different buildings, lots of space everywhere and it's very quiet. Not the place to come if you're looking for a dance club or a party vibe. It's more for relaxing and rejuvenation. Even though we didn't sleep here, I plan on visiting and staying for about 3 days some time in the future. It's a bit far from anything so I imagine not leaving the hotel at all and just enjoying the ultimate in relaxation and easy luxury.

Pros:
- wonderful surroundings: the hotel is an old village which has been turned into the hotel
- rooms are very nice
- very nice garden and quiet pool
- Good restaurant, although slightly disappointed given price

Cons:
- the service is not as "attentionate" when you stay with a "gift voucher" rather than pay cash... which was our case. We had the slight impression that the service provided to other clients (who seemed wealthier than us) was much better!!
