This is a strange complaint from a person who really likes to eat tomatoes, but when I ordered a tomato salad and grilled swordfish the waiter did not inform me that the fish was also served with the same thing! I had a least a half kilo of them between the two dishes. Perhaps, the staff is not so experienced or the menu is limited, but a bigger choice would have been nice. The setting in the old building was charming and the wine good and the little museum upstairs was interesting too.

Beautiful location but food was poor - gave me an upset stomach! Overpriced and arrogant attitude from staff. Would not recommend.

Cantina Modica is a very nice place in the historic building, where the winery started by Modica family. It's a beautiful setting , with very nice friendly service and local specialties. Menu is quiet short and simple and do not exist as printed version (I guess), because both times it was just announced to us by the waiter. We really liked the combination of their wines and offered food so went there two nights in the row. Loved fried sardines and pasta with pork in tomato sauce, the starters combo was also very good! We'll definitely recommend it!

Modica is a winery with a kitchen, as they tell you up front, so no full menu. However, the vegetable dishes were excellent and the seating outside in the street was so atmospheric. All the ingredients come from their own farm or "trusted local collaborators". Hence, although there was fish, I didn't see any meat on the menu.

Strangely, the disappointing thing for us was the premium wine. The basic red was nice, but the oak aged older wine we did not like much.

What mixed reviews. Yes the prices are more than elsewhere, but what a setting - with THE most beautiful baroque carved balconies illuminated just above your head on a quiet pedestrian street. Lovely wine. Smoked fish 15E - most places 10E. A huge plate of mixed antipasti for 15E for two people - very reasonable. We did not have to wait long for service and ate there on two evenings.
