“Beautiful building”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

A converted range of farm buildings, including the original olive press and grape treading trough, have been pleasingly converted into a smallish hotel with a delightful courtyard at the centre. The rooms are very simply furnished ,clean and with small ensuite shower rooms.
The grounds are interesting with a herb garden ,olive grove, flower beds, lovely poolside area, lawns and an outdoor lounge....all very well maintained.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
We found the evening menu, on half board, rather limited and formulaic. The breakfasts were satisfactory and served in a very attractive area.

This is well situated for the beaches nearby, including Eloro where there are 7th century BC remains and a nature reserve just a short walk away.

Noto itself is a beautiful town and this hotel makes a good base for such a visit.

La Corte del Sile was recommended by a friend and it was an amazing find. The region around it has the most beautiful villages and towns in Sicily. Make sure to visit Noto and Modic Bassa. This Agriturismo is a newly restored working farm complex and its very well done, not over the top kitsch for tourists but comfort and hospitable. Its pity the Italians haven't discovered routers yet to get the wifi into every room, instead of crowding out the lobby with all those iPad users. I'm planning on going back for a couple of weeks of doing nothing but reading , walking and eating

Room Tip: they all looked good to me

This was our second September stay is this – for us – lovely place. Quiet situation, friendly helpful staff, good location, in the country, but close to the beautiful town of Noto.
The hotel’s signposting was disrupted by road works during our last visit – you go completely left at the first, new, roundabout out of Noto on the road to Pachino and Portopalo..
The location offers easy car access to the undeveloped beaches which lie beyond the Vendícari nature reserve. Indeed, the most northerly beach at Eloro is half an hour’s walk from the hotel, through fields and past the remains of a little Greek amphitheatre, though the walk back is a bit of a hard slog uphill in the heat of the day. The hotel can provide you with beach towels and a (free) beach umbrella, though ours fell to bits in the wind one day, and we bought a new one for €13 from the car park attendant at the main entrance to the Vendícari reserve.
The air conditioned bedrooms are fairly simply furnished, though the high beamed wooden ceilings and – in some rooms – local ceramic tiling on the wall behind the bedhead are nice touches. Bathrooms have a spacious shower – no bath. Most rooms have an attractive ceramic table and chairs outside on a terrace or on the pavement. Some rooms beside the pool look out onto the car park and olive trees at the back, though their terrace does overlook the pool and fields beyond. The pool is relatively small, but was not heavily used during our stays – no trouble to find a sun lounger. The pool is a constant depth - up to shoulder height, lights up with pretty colours at night, and may not be available for that swim before breakfast because of maintenance.
We particularly enjoyed having dinner under the stars on the terrace of the hotel’s restaurant, choosing from an interesting menu incorporating lots of local ingredients at a price typical of decent restaurants in much of Italy, watched from a safe distance by a young fox. If you are on half board, you are offered only a limited selection from the night’s menu. The wine list offers a wide choice of excellent Sicilian wines. Some of the restaurants in Noto or Siracusa also offer interesting options, for a change. For lunch, it is worth the few minutes’ drive to Calabernardo, where there is a simple restaurant selling the catch of the day beside the picturesque little harbour with its colourful fishing boats.
You can have breakfast inside the olive press room or on the terrace outside it with a view over a lawn to the fields below and the sea beyond. The breakfast operation was slightly understaffed, with the staff struggling to keep up with the demands for individual cups of coffee, keeping the goodies topped up and clearing the tables. The outside area tended to be invaded by flies and wasps.
The hotel is a good starting point for day car trips to the other baroque towns in that part of south east Sicily, to Ortigia and the Greek and Roman amphitheatres at Siracusa, the prehistoric burial caves at Pantálica, the ceramic staircase at Caltagirone, the amazing mosaics in the Roman villa at Piazza Armerina, and pretty locations such as Portopalo, Marzamemi and Punta Secca which feature in the popular Montalbano TV detective series.
We appreciated the hotel’s shaded parking area, but suspect our car hire company would not have been so enthusiastic about the potholes in the unsurfaced road leading from the main road to the hotel.
A note for the Sicilian authorities: a disused railway line runs just below the hotel – just asking to be turned into a long distance cycle path! We look forward to cycling on it during a future stay at the Corte del Sole.

Room Tip: One room, Ginostra, gives out onto a screen hiding airco or pool cleaning equipment. Might be noisy...

The hotel is in a very beautiful location with a wonderful view over the nature reserve. The rooms are very clean and nicely decorated. The whole hotel is in a very good shape and the stuff is friendly. The location is also ideal for exploring Siracuse, Noto and surrounding beaches. It is though very remote and in the low season it might happen that the hotel is kind of asleep at 11pm and the hotel bar might be closed. Nonetheless I would recommend to stay there and would go back if in the area.

Noto is a very nice little city in Sicily, where I have been last year, in September 2011.
Unfortunately my stay was in Bronte, also a good place but not like Noto and this Hotel.
I've been there the same day I have discovered a beach in a natural and protected resort really near to it. It seemed to me to be in a private beach, with natural hot water (thanks to the magma under the island). I have visited the hotel as recommended. A beautiful peace, calm and serenity took me as I parked. Even not going to stay during the night (will surely go back there), the staff was absolutely friendly and I could eat simply on the garden at a normal price range. Calm, it has a big garden with pool with a nice view. Moreover the place isn’t far away, neither from the Etna nor from Catania and indeed is near Palermo.

We stayed here with our two kids in a very pleasant family room. The staff is great and friendly, the food is awesome and yet very affordable. Highly recommended hotel.
Only factor of irritation was the noise of the airco units close to the pool area, but even that is forgiven. Book this hotel, you won't regret it.
