Acacia Resort Parco dei Leoni
Reviewed July 13, 2014

This was my first stay at the Acacia with a group from the US. Upon check in the twin (2 bed) room that I had requested several times was not available. The front desk and maintenance person sent to the room was not helpful and it was only resolved when the organizer of the tour contacted the hotel owner. This was the case with several in our group that had requested twin accommodations.
The food was not the spectacular feast that I expected. It was very plentiful - but in my opinion quantity does not make up for quality and taste.
The location is gorgeous but very isolated - if you want to walk to a restaurant or anywhere - that is not possible. You can take tourist shuttle buses into nearby towns or very expensive taxis.
Wi-fi was spotty at best in the rooms. No coffee in room and not allowed to bring coffee back to the room.
Sicily was an incredible vacation but I would not stay at this location again.

Wonderful hotel, standard of the room, bathroom, restaurant, food - everything was perfect. All of the Staff was very nice to the guests. Sport animiations were on the high level. During the supper wonderful and romatic music was played by Mr. Marco.
I am very grateful for support from Reception Personnel - espacially many thanks to Mrs. Viviana, Sara, Valentina and Mr. Erik - for each of my question This Personnel gave me excelent answers. I had problem with my eye - They also advised me the medicine that I should by in the Farmacy and also helped how to get to the Hospital in Palermo.

Room Tip: Room with the view to the sea

At first sight the hotel looks lovely, and it does have a great pool area and nice gardens and direct access to the beach (though it's very stoney). It's a lovely spot when the sun shines, but dead boring if it doesn't.

The food is good and varied, but mass catered and not quite up to the other hotel I stayed in in Sicily.

The room was large and comfortable with a free, and easy to operate, safe. TV is small, and can't get BBC even though half the channels said they were BBC - only available channel in English is CNN

There was a bathtub, but the tiled bathroom floor was dangerously slippery.

The room was described by another guest as "designed by an idiot". there are no drawers or sockets in useable places. There is no information in the room about the facilities in the hotel - or anything else. The air conditioning is on a timer - but you are not told this. So when you come in after a hot day it's off and it goes off in the night - which woke several people up.

One bedside (glass) shelf was not attached to the wall as it should have been.

Staff are generally helpful (if asked), but less so than in my other hotel (except for the wine waiters in the restaurant who were very good). Bar service is very slow.

The pool often seemed to be closed for no apparent reason.

10am check out is way too early

But the biggest problem is it's so isolated. There's nothing around it except other resort hotels, so you can't really go for a walk anywhere. There are no shops in the vicinity and the one in the hotel is hopelessly inadequate.

If you just want to sit around the pool and enjoy a decent standard of buffet food then perhaps this is for you. But getting out and about is difficult. There is a bus shuttle to Cefalu - which is really lovely, do not miss it if you're staying here - but again they don't tell you about it and you wouldn't know to ask. It's also infrequent.

Room Tip: Get a view towards the pool / sea. Though the sea is far away beyond the gardens

This is one of the best hotels that we have stayed in. Top quality in every way. Modern and expensive décor with extensive private grounds, gardens and beach. The swimming pool is outstanding and one of the best for both children and adults as it flows seamlessly from shallow to deep. The food although on a buffet arrangement was outstanding and with a massive choice for both breakfast and dinner. It is a little formal and you will feel much more at one with the hotel if you wear smart clothes. Great spa and pool on the 4th floor. good bar for snacks and drinks by the pool. The only downsides - bedrooms relatively small and no cupboards / drawers; like being in a tropical garden so hardly any view from the balcony; ditto no sea / beach view from the rooms; staff can be rude. You need a car because not near any town or opportunity forevening promenade strolls. Never-the-less one really classy place.

Room Tip: only 3 stories, but worth getting a top floor bedroom for at least some views

It's our second consecutive holiday at the Acacia resort. Had a great time with the kids. You will need a car to go around however the hotel is super clean and relaxing, the kid's choice to visit the hotel again :-)

Fabulous time, but breakfast needs improvement. Only scrambled eggs and hardboiled eggs for the egg choice for 7 days. No omelette station either. Breakfast sausage was some strange hot dog. While it wont prevent me from going back, they really need to do something about the breakfast

We stayed here for 1 week and found it to be a great hotel but mainly as we had a car. Without one we would have felt very cut off as outside the gates there is nothing/nowhere to walk too.

The pool was fantastic though and as it had a shallow sloping end our 11 month old could crawl in and splash about which he loved. The beach was a little disappointing as quite stoney but with such a wonderful pool it wasn't a problem.

We had a view of the sea from our room at an angle but unfortunately we also overlooked an industrial building so would opt for a garden view. However the room was nice, cleaned daily and comfortable with a large balcony and relaxing chairs.

Unlike other reviews we found some of the staff to be very abrupt particularly the head waiter and lifeguards but on a whole staff were fine.

Food was average perhaps slightly disappointing for Sicily and we actually chose to dine out a couple of evenings to avoid the buffet. Also lunch was pretty awful and overpriced so we ate lunch out all but 1 day.

As a location for touring Cefalu is about 30mins away and the mountains are stunning just a short drive too.

The hotel gains a 4 for its beautiful grounds, stunning pool and quality accommodation, falls short of 5 due to food quality and a few staff members.

Room Tip: Sea view/pool view rooms are better but really all rooms will have a good vantage point.
