“Peaceful stay in NE coast of Sardinia”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

Only 25 min. from Olbia airport, which is nice, not to travel for hours....very quiet setting in nice green surroundings- however, you will need a car to get anywhere- playa Insuleda- really nice is the closest one- maybe 600 meters- but if you carry all the towels and 2 childre and everything, you don't want to walk that distance, especially if it's hot...Don't go in September- you can get showers, rain and wind- so 4 days of our holidays were ruined because of the weather plus the see got cooler- July is probably the best, because August is quite busy...many beautiful beaches within couple km- La Cinta, beach in Budoni, Beach in Porto Ottiolu- really good restaurants in port as well- try La Pirata and pasta with elastice- wont' regret it!!!! For dinner there is a great restaurant with best pasta ever called Nautilus, also in Porto Ottiolu....Didn't like the beach Capo Coda Cavallo- it's paid and to get there you really need an offroad,,....I was also dissapointed by Brandinchini beach - called Tahiti- very crowded- also paid entrance and the sand area wasnt quite big enough to make enough place for everybody....it's very popular and I think that is the problem,,,, too many people will make any place on earth hell:}...so- back to the hotel- it was very clean, not crowded by the pool- but it was September already and they close on 15th, the only two things- you don't get propper breakfast, unless you like sweet jellys and white buns and cakes....We are more into eggs, dark bread and veggies for breakfast....so if you stay, as we did...for 10 days and you get always the same breakfast you get quite tired of it....they make you some eggs if you ask, but then you have to wait, and sometimes they forget to bring it at all, since there is only 2 waitresses for morning and they do all the coffee and hot chocolatte wishes...The other thing is gardener- only one for quite big garden which is perfectly trimmed- but he starts cutting grass every single day and finishes at the noon....so you don't really get any quiet time by the pool....if there were let's say 4 of them, cutting grass twice a week for couple hours and the rest would be just trimming- but every day with a lawn mover isnt' something you want to hear on your holiday....otherwise hotel is really nice and guests friendly....

Room Tip: Whatch out for the rooms that are close to parking lot- it's something around 400 - you get cars...

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights in September. The little bungalows were lovely, decorated nicely with nice big bed and garden. The staff in the breakfast/dining room were very helpful and we ate both breakfast and 1 meal in the restaurant. Breakfast was fine and you could order eggs but this was not advertised at all. The evening meal was surperb it was €35 each but was well worth it as we got 4 courses. The pool area was lovely and with a car you can reach the most amazing beaches I have ever seen. Overall a lovely hotel but way out of town so you would need a car.

Great, family oriented place with simple, but nice, Sardinian-style bungalowsoverlooking the water. The main building and pool area are beautiful.. The only shortcomings were the spotty internet availability (main building only), and need to get a login and code from the front desk every time you want to log on. The front desk coverage could be a bit thin. Also, the evening meal was a bit expensive if bought on a daily basis, in partly because it was formal, sit-down service. Buffet might work better, since the place loaded with kids.

Room Tip: Worth the price to get "sea view" even if not panaramic.

We stayed here for a week recently and found it to be a quiet, modern and well equipped hotel. The bedrooms was large, clean and well maintained with a good quality bathroom. The main rooms in the hotel were very clean and attractive and the staff all efficient and helpful. Breakfast was typically Italian but included a good range of fresh buffet style food.

The pool was in a lovely setting with plenty of sunbeds and shades and the whole garden area was immaculate.

The location was some distance (3 km?) from the town of San Teodoro so not really walking distance in the heat and the nearest beach about 1km. A car is essential and we felt slightly too far away from everything as there was nothing to walk to and had to drive everywhere. An excellent location if you want peace and quiet and don't mind driving.

We had a long weekend at Costa Caddu and enjoyed every moment of it. It's still a mystery to us why this hotel only has 3*, whereas it is definitely worth 4*.

For this part of Sardegna, Costa Caddu provides good value for money. Breakfast has a very good selection and is of good quality... much better than what would you normally expect in Italy. And more importantly, service at Costa Caddu is impeccable with all the staff constantly having a very friendly, professional, welcoming attitude.

Only negative is that it is a bit remote, so need a car to get there, but that also makes it a plus as it means it doesn't get noisy and you can really enjoy the beautiful nature all around the hotel.

Room Tip: Spend a little bit more and request a room with sea view.

We spent a night at the Costa Caddu and we had a very pleasant experience. The location is very 'Sardinian', a bit isolated, very quiet and absolutely gorgeous. You will need a car, but then again, to make the most of your time on the island you will need one anyway.

The room had a lovely view (sea-view is an extra 10 euros) and absolutely spotless. All room have a nice private patio.

All staff were incredibly friendly and professional, maybe the waitresses at the restaurant could try and smile a bit more. The staff at the reception (Maristella and Mousa) and Signor Pasquale at the bar are top notch.

To be picky, the internet 'procedure' is a bit outdated (you'll need to get a password every day and state how long you want to be connected for) and the hotel management may want to look into making it more straightforward.

The nearest beach is ok, but we preferred to do our sunbathing at the nice swimming pool (diving board!!!) and the local beaches (http://www.santeodoroturismo.it/index.php?module=gestGallery&idCategoria=3). They are among the best we've ever seen. worthy driving around and explore the area.

Be careful if you drive to town or some of the local beaches as the parking attendants are a bit trigger happy when it comes to fines (but then again, if you're a Londoner you'll be used to it) and if you do get a fine you'll have to queue for up to an hour at the local post office (we were told). Again, the staff at the reception and bar will be more than happy to tip you on how to avoid a fine.

San Teodoro is a lovely village, with plenty of shops and a nice feel to it, so well worthy few visit - and check out the night market.

the Costa Caddu is not cheap, but the location, the service and surroundings make it well worthy the price. Recommended.

Room Tip: pay the extra 10 euros for a sea view

We've watched this low-key, high-quality hotel being built from scratch over the years. It has minimal impact on its beautiful seaside surroundings with small, mainly one-bedroom apartments dotted around the complex. The owners - three businessmen from a town a few miles away - have spent an absolute fortune on it and have borne the losses as it slowly earns its reputation as a great, secluded hideaway. All the mini-villas are decorated with traditional and high-end Sardinian fixtures and fittings. At its centre is the building containing the bar and restaurant. A pool lies between the hotel centre and the sea. The food wins rave reviews from locals and visitors. The only downside is that you might have to watch achingly beautiful brides, grooms and guests enjoying themselves almost every weekend of the year as the Sardinians and mainland Italians regard this as one of the best places to get spliced and celebrate afterwards.
