We booked for one night and upon arrival were delighted to learn we could have dinner at the Tenuta after along day of sight-seeing in Otanto.When we returned to the tenuta,I took a nap,intending to arrive at the dining room at the usual time for dinner in Puglia,8:30.My husband roused me early,stating the owner/chef had requested we dine at an earlier time,since there were only two other people dining that evening.Sleepily,I entered the dining room and was served a bowl of spaghetti tossed in a tasteless tomato sauce and topped with 5 tiny,obviously frozen shrimp....ironic for a place called Tenuta il Gambero [shrimp].We ordered a bottle of Puglia white,which tasted much the same as the carafe wine we had been drinking for the last 2 weeks.It was a sad and disappointing meal.The next morning,when we received the bill,we were aghast to learn we had been charged as much as we had paid for excellent,complete dinners in restaurants.We questioned the owners,but they were indifferent to our concers.We felt taken and so angry.This was the only negative experience in our two weeks of travel in Puglia.
