We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident near crowded Otranto. Lots of locals dining in which is usually a good thing. Umberto himself checks on the tables himself (we could tell as there are pictures of him all over the place) if you're an Italian guest/friend. As we were from abroad, we were waited on by the other staff... Nevertheless: we had a great meal - Umberto serves both fish and meat and both were fine - which took some time to prepare, which, again, is usually a good thing. We would've visited again as the food was excellent but it was quite a long drive from the hotel so we didn't. A great address in this forgotten corner of Italy.
