My wife and I began our Italian honeymoon at Bell'Aria. As the name suggests, the place sings its beauty and charm. Sequestered in a beautiful part of the old port of Monopoli, Italy, it immediately evokes la dolce vita. I particularly loved walking the labyrinthine streets at night--very mysterious. Gorgeous nearby beaches make for a dreamy get away. The food in Monopoli and nearby towns is fantastic. Plenty of things to see and do in the area.
The property itself, originally quite old but thoroughly and tastefully updated, is a pleasure--especially the rooftop terrace. We had lovely meals there. My wife, a painter, enjoyed working there in the brilliant sun.
We'd go back to Bell'Aria in a flash. Can't recommend it enough.
This was my second time staying at this stunning home in the Historic Town Centre of Monopoli (Centro Storico). The location of this rental is in literally steps from the beautiful port of Monopoli; and amazing restaurants, bars, and shopping. The perfect place to have as a home base when walking around Monopoli, or even venturing off to other areas of the glorious region of Puglia.
The rental property is superbly clean, and very well decorated; which gives you the special feel of living in Italy. It has all the amenities one could ask for; for cooking, entertaining, living, relaxing, and felling safe and clean. It has a beautiful rooftop terrace where you will get lost in the beauty and seclusion. Truly an oasis on top of the rental!
There is a wonderfully delicious and friendly restaurant at the end of the alley where Bell'Aria is called La Vecchia Taverna. The food is spectacular, the hospitality impeccable, and a rooftop terrace to enjoy beautiful views of the port and moon.
I absolutely intend to visit again, and will always plan my trip around availability at Bell'Aria! It is a must visit town and rental property.
This is a great place to unwind and enjoy a lovely town right in the midst of real Italian life and culture.
The rooms seem rather small but the stone steps and beautiful high arched ceilings make you feel as if you are staying in a miniature medieval castle.
Monopoli has lots to offer like one of our favorite restaurants owned by Vito and Antonietta. La Vecchia Taverna it is called and it's right down the road from the house. The fresh seafood is magnificent and the panna cotta is unforgettable. Monopoli is also closely located to many other sightseeing worthy towns in Puglia.
We would gladly return to this magical town.
Bell'Aria is an absolutely delightful experience. The house itself is a typical Apulian building, one room on each floor, and a fantastic terrace on the roof. It's been lovingly renovated and furnished, bringing out a number of original details. It is cool, cozy, and bursting with character. The owners have done an amazing job at providing all amenities, and the place was spotless when we arrived. Then, there is the location: just inside the ancient walled city of Monopoli, Bell'Aria is within a hundred steps of the amazing baroque Cathedral, the best ice cream in town (Caffè Roma), and an incredible beach with crystal-clear waters!
The owners are incredibly kind and helpful, and very easy to reach if there are any needs. There is an abundance of shops and restaurants in the historic center, making for an absolutely extraordinary holiday experience.
To keep a potentially longer story short: Bell'Aria is the place to be. I will definitely return to Monopoli, and won't look anywhere else in town.
I love this very well kept medieval home in the old town of Monopoli near Bari. The kitchen and bathroom are downstairs, then a bedroom on the second floor, another on the third, and a private, quiet rooftop terrace where we had at least a meal every day. The house stays cool even in the hottest weather, this part of town is quiet, yet very close (walking distance) to several fresh markets, and at least a dozen churches and museums, all of which worthy of a visit. We also saw a jazz concert in a church undergoing renovation, which was well done, and I thought, a very good use of the space given the renovation. We had a rental car, and we had many great unplanned trips in the vicinity, all of them replete with memorable and enjoyable adventures.
Of all the vacations I have taken, in France, Spain, Canada, and the US, this is by far my favorite one. Real Italy, real people, no tourist traps, low prices, and an authentic taste of Italy. All from our base in this ideal and idyllic home in an old medieval town (which appears under another name in Homer's Illiad, no less).
There are many good restaurants in the old town, including La Taverna Vecchia, just a few steps away. The ocean is right there, and the mountains are a short drive away. Everything you want in a vacation.
Absolutely fabulous house, well-kept and always cool, even in the heat of summer. Rooftop terrace is exquisite, private, and perfect for enjoying fresh meals from the local market. There is so much to do and see in town, and a short drive in any direction yields the charm of rural Italy. I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else in Monopoli.
Myself and four friends stayed at this amazing property for five nights. The location in beautiful Monopoli is perfect for getting a true feel for the Italian life! The beach is just a short walk away, as are the quaint cafes and restaurants. La Vecchia tavern is a block away and by far my favorite restaurant in all of Monopoli. The owners take such pride in their dishes, amazing!!!
I look forward to our return to this part of Italy. We will definitely stay here aging on our next visit. It feels like home.
