“Trulli Fantastic”
Reviewed September 24, 2012 for a stay in August 2012

The previous review says it all really.
Wonderfully renovated modern villa with all the amenities you would expect from such a high standard rental.
Graham was fantastic, also met us and gave us useful advice and help as and when needed.
Whilst the villa is situated in a fairly secluded location - with a hire car it is very easy to come and go to all the local villages in the area.
The beautiful coast is a 20ish minute drive - the places we really liked were Polignano A Mare and Lecce but most of the towns and villages outside of Castellana Grotte are pretty gorgeous.
Food and drink all very good. Local markets and supermarkets easily accessible and provide great fare.
My 6 year old and 8 year old children really enjoyed the space to run around and we all loved the pool to cool off in.
Definately recommend it!

“Excellently Renovated Trulli”

We booked this trulli through Pure Puglia, the first of two we rented through them whilst on a 3 week holiday in this region. Pure Puglia were very good indeed, especially as they meet you at a convenient, easy to find, location and lead you to the accommodation. Graham, a lovely English chap and Mariangela were most welcoming from Pure Puglia.

We have had problems finding villa rentals in the past and this trulli would have been no different, so it was lovely to follow someone there. It's a 10min steady drive from central Castellana Grotte; half of which is on country lanes of one car width flanked by old stone walls and fields of olive trees and grape vines. There are regular passing places though.

The location of the trulli was really well placed for the northern part of Apulia, you can easily drive to Alberobello, Tranato, Matera, Bari all within 25 - 60 mins.

We were only the second people to have stayed at the trulli. It was an excellent renovation; brand new, very modern within such an old structure. Fully double glazed and thick walls kept searing August heat out of the villa and coolness in. There is A/C in every room though we turned it off most of the time, including at night, we didn't feel it was needed.

There are 3 bedrooms, the master is enormous with a double sofabed too (there would be plenty of rooms for travel cots as well). The master had a large beautifully tiled wet room with rain shower head and this led through to a small walk in dressing room. The other 2 bedrooms also had excellent ensuite wet rooms (no bath in trulli) with rain shower heads.

The kitchen was very well equiped with nearly everything you would need (just missing salad forks when we were there which is bought from a bazaar but took to our next trulli in case it also didn't have any (it didn't)). Full size ironing board, iron and all laundry facilities. A hairdryer was also in every shower room - good touch.

We thought the very large full length mirror in the lounge area very helpful and often missing in rentals.

The charcoal bbq was large and well placed with external lights nearby (we been in rentals where this wasn't thought of and had to use a torch at night to check the food!).

The pool was lovely with 6 loungers, the sail canopy which was a shade above the table was excellent too. Our children managed to find shade at all points of the day. The pool has roman steps and at the deep end there is also steel steps. The temperature of the pool was a welcome relief from the hot sun. There is no shade for the car in the drive. The trulli is visible from the one track country road but there are very few vehicles which pass during the day (3 or 4 in a whole day at most) so this wasn't a problem, though when foilage grows it will be improved giving even more privacy. The beach towels to use on the sun loungers were good quality too. We did take our own 'just in case' but could have saved on the kg of the flight.

The fencing around the trulli wasn't in situ when we booked it but was when we arrived. It does detract from the overall look of the villa but doesn't pose any problem at all. The trulli is fully alarmed and very easy to use - just click a button on a remote once you've locked up and outside.

There is wifi of sorts; there is a dongle but as the walls of the trulli are so thick it needs to be used on the outside table, but we didn't find it worked there either. WiFi in the entire Puglia region was more of a miss than a hit. There is a good cafe bar if you do need to be in touch about a 10min drive away; we used once to book accommodation for the end of our holiday.
