Stayed for 7 nights in September.
The hotel is in a good location on the edge of the town - but walkable to the town centre. All the hotels in the town are clustered in the same area. There are several restaurants within walkable distance. The food in the restaurant attached to the hotel - Restaurante Willy - was good, as was the service, but it was let down by having a large screen TV in the restaurant which was on constantly. Secondly there was a nicer part to the restaurant in a conservatory but as hotel guests, without a reservation, we were never seated in that part but instead were always seated in the area with the TV which was brighter, noisier and not as nicely furnished.
Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. The hotel is rather dated in appearance and this was reflected in the decor of the room as well. However, the room and bathroom were a good size and clean. Some of the hangers in the wardrobe needed to be replaced because the rail to support trousers, and hooks to hang skirts on, were broken so could only hang up shirts/jackets. Sound-proofing of the rooms is not good and you can hear any noise in the next room - even someone coughing. Not sure if it is feasible to do anything about this but you could try and ensure you get a room that has vacant rooms either side. This was not possible when we stayed.
My major niggle was with the hotel is the quality and quantity of the breakfast. It is a buffet breakfast and I was pleasantly surprised to find it offered hot dishes - boiled eggs, scrambled eggs and bacon. However on all but one of the sevendays there was never any scrambled eggs or bacon left because the hotel only offers one dish of each and when it is gone it is not replenished. The amount offered would probably only feed 10-12 people maximum and as the hotel has 63 rooms unless you are first down to breakfast you won't get any. Similarly, the machine to boil eggs held about 6 or 7 eggs and that was never replenished either. The only items to be replenished were croissants and, if you asked, bread. Also with the exception of an additional sweet pastry dish there was never any variety to the menu which if staying for a week, as we were, gets a bit repetitive. The quality of the cereal, bread and orange juice was not very good and better quality products would greatly enhance the breakfast experience.
I would rate the hotel as a good three star property rather than four star but for the location and price, if I were to stay in Castel San Pietro Terme again, I would probably chose to stay at this hotel.
