A beautifully renovated cottage, respectful of its heritage but fully modernised for cosy comfort. Great touches with lovely art and super comfy beds.
Perfectly clean and appointed with all mod cons (and excellent wifi!).
Great hikes and amazing landscape.
We spent a week in The Old Fisherman’s Cottage in mid November, not your typical season to book a stay on an island off the west coast, but my family and I wanted somewhere pretty that we could completely unwind and relax.
We came across David’s cottage online and it ticked all the boxes, offering stunning Atlantic views, home comforts and a fabulous location between two beaches - it lived up to its promise and more!
The cottage is beautifully decorated and you can instantly tell that so much thought and care has been taken in every single decision. It is precisely what you see online and delivers on everything!
David was such a welcoming host and added so many lovely touches to make us feel relaxed and at home.
We had the most amazing time and can not wait to book our return visit! Would highly recommend to anyone considering booking.
We stayed 3 nights over the Halloween weekend, beautifully decorated throughout old cottage with the most amazing views. 5 minute walk to the beach. Thanks David for letting out what has to be 1 of the best properties on the island... Rich, Sarah, Cath, Joe and Sam
We had an amazing weekend here communing with the stormy ocean and the sheep! The cottage is gorgeous, very comfortable, and charming. The lovely woodburner and complementary bottle of prosecco meant we were warm, cosy, and relaxed despite the arrival of Hurricane Ophelia. Achill Island is stunning - we did a fantastic clifftop walk from beautiful Keem Bay which I highly recommend (details in the little drawer of maps and guides in the kitchen). And the Atlantic Drive from Dooega isn't to be missed either. David was a great host who checked in to make sure we hadn't been blown into the sea, and kept us informed throughout.
Beautiful, clean and contemporary with a traditional feel.
On arrival at the cottage, I was taken aback by the views over the Atlantic. The cottage itself is a stunning little place, perfect for a romantic get away. (Can't wait to use the wood burner on a cold night.)
After being there for a few days, I felt my mind clear and I was relaxed and refreshed.
I'm looking forward to rebooking this place as the cottage is a real find.
We were in Ireland staying at 9 different places and this was one of our favorites!
David was such a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. His property clearly reflects the love and pride that has gone into restoring this beautiful home...so tastefully decorated, with comfy beds, and the kitchen/ eating area was so bright and had gorgeous views right out to the ocean. Our kids loved the bunk room, and really did not want to leave!
Just a few second walk away is a beautiful beach, and a five minute drive is Keel beach. Also of note, we visited the small aquarium on the island and it was great, with lots of historical info about the island as well.
Do not hesitate to book this property, you will be so happy you did!
Just back from a wonderful family break at the Old Fisherman's Cottage. With the beach just down the road and sea views from many of the windows, it truly is a beautiful setting. We loved the decor and the style of the house which also managed to be a homely and cosy retreat from the elements. The kids loved it! Very much a taste of the west of Ireland - turf fires and sheep roaming free, all against a dramatic backdrop. Would love to go back!
