Enjoyed Pattens after a beautiful walk over Sli Ghrainne Mhaol. Situated in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Very friendly service. Local knowledge and chat very welcoming. Was quiet when we were there but they host lots of events. Well worth a visit

My fondness for Patten's is shaped by the fact that there is always some local event happening when I go there, most recently the Kildavnet Festival, which was a most marvellous series of locally organised activities, including the JCB Digger basketball, day trip to Achill Beg and the excellent table quiz.
Defo worth a visit to see what is happening that day :-)

This is a friendly and welcoming pub in a less well-known part of Achill Island. There are seats outside with great views across the water of the Sound to the dramatic Corraun Hill, and indoors, there are seats by the cheerful fire. The new and wonderful waymarked walk, Slí Granuaile, starts on the doorstep; a short distance south along the road is the ruined Gráinne's Castle; and a few miles around the southern tip of the island on the Atlantic Drive, there are fantastic panoramas of cliffs and mountains on Achill itself, on Clare Island and across Clew Bay. So the pub is highly recommended, and whether you're walking, driving or cycling, it's great for a cuppa, a bit of food or a well-deserved pint!
