Absolutely amazing meal in Ferndale. As the title says, the food was quite fine dining, but with large portions. There is a great selection of wines, and the menu itself is quite substantial. The view from the restaurant is breath taking. We ate on New Years Eve but will definitely be back next time in Achill! Nice little touches in between courses, that's worth finding out when you try it yourself!

My partner and I ate at ferndale on the night we arrived for our stay.
The restuarant was decorated with a halloween theme with along with the soft candlelight and relaxing music gave a great atmosphere.
I ordered the medieval fish platter while my partner had the fillet steak. while we waited for our meal we where given homemade savoury scones with smoked mackerl pate and butter, out of this world!!! a mini starter of duck risotto was beautiful, sorbet was provided just before the main event which was deliciously sweet and cleansing.
The main course was presented beautifully, i have never had anything like it before. the best seafood in Ireland, the steak was perfect, could not fault it in anyway. we chose not to have a desert but the host jon gave us some chocolate :-)

We went to Ferndale with friends and family for a meal. The food was very unusual and not in good way!!! It is advertsied as a type of fusion cuisine, its not, its just poor poor judgement of flavours. The quality of the beef was extremely poor, so much so it was not eaten by two of the three people that ordered it. The waitress asked what was the problem and we told her politely the beef was not good. Then chef came out and confronted us. It was very very awkward and uncomfortable. I would not recommend the place based on the weird food combinations, poor quality ingredients and confrontaional nature of the chef.

Had a meal here in June and loved it. My wife also loved it so I decided to bring her back here over the August bank holiday weekend for a surprise trip. Spent 2 nights in the Roman themed room - fantastic. We had our own hottub in the room and views were amazing.

Had dinner both nights here as well and the food was just as good as our first trip. Breakfast is also really good and Jon very kindly gave us a doxen of the delicious scones going away with us.

Loved every minute of it and will definitely be back again.
