We decided today to visit this part of the city to go swimming and unfortunately this beachfront hotel to use one of their loungers and umbrellas. While the place had more than 80 sets of loungers, we just picked a nice comfortable one at the front row. As soon as we sat down, a sleepy, out of place waiter came to inform us that we had to pay an extra 10 euros for the umbrella on top of whatever we ordered to drink or eat. We thought, why not..fair enough..! Before we even uttered a word he then said.."oh...ahhm and this set is actually reserved for hotel guests as well..". Clearly, there was no sign indicating this, plus, beside us and in all directions they were youngsters that clearly looked like they did not belong in the so called.."exclusive" club of hotel guests.
We thought ok..fair enough..again..."where can we sit please.." He pointed to another set of loungers and umbrellas divided by a gang way, where "you didn't have to pay for the set"..and a specific set of loungers in the 2nd row from the front. As soon as we walked towards that direction, he came again, to tell us that this was also reserved for hotel guests and we could sit further back..! Now let me tell you...by this point..my patience had really started to ran low, but since we had already walked about 2 miles to reach this point, in the heat, and quite de hydrated, we decided to not let this clear.."discrimination", "lack of tact" for some reason..and definitely rudeness to ruin our day. So, we sat down where he was happy for us to sit down. A few moments later, there came another couple, that clearly were not hotel guests and sat on the loungers in front of us, where we had previously attempted to sit. The waiter came by and having guessed our thoughts said.."oh just wait..I'll ask them to move else where too"..!
Well...he took the guy aside...told him something..and the guy just came back and sat in those very chairs..! The waiter then comes back and says to us..."well I know what you're thinking...but they happen to know the boss..so I can't do anything..!
What kind of pathetic excuse..clearly a filthy and dirty lie was that...I leave it up to you to decide..! I was fuming by that point..! As if this was not enough..towards the end..the waiter went and whispered to the guy, (thinking I couldn't hear him), .."oh by the way..if this guy asks you how come you sat there..just tell him that you knew the boss.."...!
I don't know about you readers..but I could not let this go easily, not without writing this review and shouting out how terrible the staff are trained, their luck of service and tact towards customers, (in house or not). What could clearly be a nice beach front resort, with a great beach and clear waters, clearly the management of this so called "establishment", has so poorly instructed their staff about what is true customer service that they do not even worth the one star I'm giving them. If there was an option for no stars...that clearly would have been mine..this is how terrible and angry they made me feel..! Beware...this place will judge you by how cool or hip you look before they even let you sit on their beachfront...if they only knew....!!!
