We arrived at Winningen late at night (10 p.m.) with nowhere to sleep. A man we asked for room to sleep, said he had none available, but he could call his friend, Nora. So he did, and she had one room left. At the hotel, we met a warm, welcoming and service-minded woman, who turned out to be the owner.
The hotel room was clean and spacy, and great for two tired souls who had been on the road for almost 30 hours.
It's a 5-10 minutes walk to the centrum (which was a very quiet town), and parking just outside the hotel.

The hotel is about a ten minute hike uphill from the town center, which is a good thing if you're inclined to eat at a local restaurant. Our host, Nora, was very gracious and friendly. She prepares an excellent breakfast for travellers which includes a delicious offering of scrambled eggs. The rooms are "botique" size; read that, not designed for louinging with book. WiFi is most reliable in the room where breakfast is served. The usual ammenities are provided, sans, English tv broadcasts. The only thing I can fault the Emmerich for, is a fairly significant concern. The room heating system is on an automatic timer, which for some reason, shuts off at 7:00 pm. This wouldn't be bad in the summertime, but if you need to make a trip to the privvy in the wee-small hours of early spring or late fall, it could cause some discomfort.
In all fairness to Nora, she did try to remedy the problem on the last night of our stay.
