The hotel is located at the western end of the town above the harbour. It is very impressive from the outside and the public areas are quite opulent with a very good display of art on the walls. The room was large and comfortable but so retro as to be almost fashionable. The trim phone, the non-flat screen T.V. and the Ercol style furniture seem have come straight out of the 1970s. We weren't quite sure if we relished the retro style and were itching to give it a good make over.
The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was excellent. It was taken in a large spacious room but the actual hotel restaurant was in a semi-basement. The food here was very disappointing and the service rather slow. Don't assume that Sassnitz just consists of the area around the hotel. The harbour below has been very successfully redeveloped and the Altstadt, some distance east of the hotel, is attractive and charming.

We stayed in Sassnitz one night as we had to catch the ferry to Bornholm (DK) the following morning, and looking on booking web sites we found Kurhotel Sassnitz which seemed to offer good accommodation at a convenient price. When we arrived, we were actually surprised considered the price. The hotel is located within a beautiful old building, and the lobby is really nice. The staff at check-in was friendly.

Location is good, right at the beginning of Sassnitz main shopping street, and it's a 10-to-15 minutes walk to to the main strand. There's free parking behind the hotel. The room was spacious enough, clean and well-kept, even though I wouldn't say it was renovated recently.

Breakfast deserves a separated mention. First of all it was served in a big and beautiful hall on the first floor; then, there was plenty of choice at the buffet, which was actually one of the most comprehensive I ever found in an hotel. There was also no problem getting some gluten-free bread for one of us. This is a great choice in Sassntiz, both for a one-night stopover or as a base to explore the surrounding area.

Stayed here after reading other reviews. Hotel is lovely old building in good location. Rooms are large by European standards, but starting to look a bit tired. Carpet had some stains and TV was small. Very quiet location, but could hear some voices from room next door. Excellent buffet breakfast included, as well as free parking. Good value for the money, and helpful staff. About the only reason to stay in Sassnitz is to visit the nearby national park, which is worth the visit.

Very spacy and nice hotel - and very easy to find. The swimming pool is a 2 minutes walk from the hotel and very nice (29 degress) but not as big as it looks on the pictures.
The hotel room was ok, you can see the ocean all rooms and the breakfast was ok but could have been better.
No internet!

Stayed there for two nights early May. Hotel and town still bit empty as before season. Good location in middle of town. Room decent seize, decor simple and slightly outdate. View over neighbouring Ruegen Hotel. You can use their spa facilities for free as a guest of the Kurhotel. Very nice breakfast buffet. You can even make your own waffles. Nice idea. Good place to start discovery trip around the island.
