Charming old house, rather difficult to find in old part of town - but worth the effort. Lovely room with view over old town, garden accessible to guests. Good breakfast with boiled eggs. Within easy walking reach of several restaurants. Recommended.

I am not sure how typical Le Grand Logis is of small hotel in France but I have paid the same amount and stayed in much better bed & breakfast hostelries. This place is more like staying in someone's home with winding staircases, old double doors and similar furniture. But the bathroom was modern with a good shower but insufficient curtains at our window which overlooked the gardens where other residents therefore overlooked us! The landlord fussed around us and seemed very keen on showing is a new garden set of stairs which he assured us several times he had build himself. The weather was quite hot during our visit in July which meant keeping the windows open. Unfortunately when we stayed there was a lot of noisy youths roaming up and down the street which kept us awake until the early (3pm) hours. On the plus side however the weather allowed us to take the excellent breakfast in the garden rather than sitting on shared benches inside and this was a delightful treat. Would we stay again, probably not but if you like quirky places, then this might prove to be just the place for you!

Room Tip: When booking (essential) ask for the room with the balcony overlooking the garden. Its a bit overgro...

My wife and I only stayed in Parthenay for one night on our way north to Brittany. I wish we had more time to stay longer as it's an interesting town, but then so is most of France!
Yvan and Gabriele are just perfect hosts and did everything to make our short stay comfortable.
The home has an interesting history and a lovely sunny garden.
The room was large, comfortable and clean and breakfast was all you could want.
When asked where to eat they had the perfect restaurant and even made the reservation for us.
This BnB ticks all the boxes and is reasonably priced as well.
If you stay in Parthenay, stay here!

M Pied is an excellent host - nothing seems too much trouble. The position of the B&B in the eart of the historic area, yet a quiet street, is perfect. Breakfast wonderful. also ask M Pied to direct yo to his sisters' farm where there is a delightful riverside restaurant

Room Tip: Room to left of entrance is spacious

The only chamber d'hôte with a free room. The room was spacious, clean with very modern shower and toilet, beautiful stone walls, very light with a window facing onto the old town. Lovely old wooden floors. Breakfast was excellent, and we were treated to a mini concert via the proprietor's iPad of a concert his daughter gave in the local church. She is a professional opera singer. In the afternoon the proprietor is holding a charity concert in his splendid garden. Parthenay is reminiscent of Provence thirty years ago. Quiet, medieval, rural charm. One for the discerning traveller looking to break away from the tourist route.

We have just returned from France, having made an unplanned trip to Parthenay during our visit. The pedestrian-friendly town was an unexpected delight and Le Grand Logis made a super base from which to explore. The accommodation was full of historic charm and the owner, Yvan, was very friendly and most helpful. Highly recommended.

B and B. We only stayed overnight, would happily have stayed longer. Beautiful old character-full house, with attractive garden. Huge room, and very clean. The view from the window was stunning. Enjoyed a delicious breakfast the following morning.
Parthenay is a very attractive town as well as a convenient stopover on the way south.
Will certainly be back!
