Has Campanile as a group changed so much in the last 3 years since we stopped being very regular users??

Worn out linen
Worn out bathroom linen
Not very clean

Fatty chewy lamb to eat
The thinnest salmon you've ever seen

Staff seemed to enjoy nibbling the buffet every time they passed

Breakfast minimised..last slice of ham between two at9.30...was refreshed at 9.55 with new plate...breakfast service finishes at so that was really daft
Coffee empty with a reluctance to refill

Teabags in bedroom..mint only.......?
Only one bedside table
No anti slip in bath

Morning staff got up on the wrong side of bed

Smelly public toilets

Generally shabby

The bottle of wine was fine to drink...mmmm

Now I'm back on the road do I give them another chance as a group and this was a local issue.

We recognize most the comments made by other reviewers about this hotel: however: the room was absolutely clean, and so was the bathroom (pity about the stains on the shower curtain (blood?)), crisp white sheets on the bed, good airco (lousy instructions, though).

Dinner was okay-ish: we had hamburgers, but the buffet cooling was out of order (??!!) so it was not possible make our own selection of starters and deserts from the buffet. They made up some plates in the kitchen, and then charged the same as if we had had the buffet. Hmmmm.

Kudos to the front desk person who had to do all the check-ins, taking dinner orders, and serving dinners. Far too much work for one person, but he remained cheerfull throughout.

All in all it was however far below the standards of Campanile.

Halfway point on a drive from Italy to England, arrived late, hot and tired with my dog. Given the last room in the hotel (apparently) to discover air con broken. It was in the middle of a heatwave too. I had to sleep with the door open all night and my dog on guard!! Also had to have a cold bath at 3am to cool down. Awoke late and in a tired state, went down to reception to be told breakfast finished at 9am! It was 9.01. - Who's ever heard of breakfast finishing so early. After a massive hissy fit, I got some left overs, and at least a decent coffee... Rooms old sad and tired, half the light bulbs were out too, one of the worst places I've stayed on planet earth, and I'm a flight attendant so I've stayed in a few!! The staff were helpful and polite I must say, but not the slightest bit interested in my problems. I also saw the chef out the back of the kitchens smoking, he looked like a homeless person, a filthy state, so maybe just as well I didn't eat.
My advice to you, if you're thinking of stopping here....Keep on driving.

Room tip: Try another hotel!

We stay in Campanile Hotels regularly, they are normally very friendly, basic but clean and welcoming and they allow us to take our dog into the room. However this one didn't come up to the usual standard, the lady who booked us in was curt and disinterested, and as we came in from our dinner in the evening I asked for a hot chocolate and was told very rudely that the restaurant was closed (they were resetting for breakfast). I just wanted a sachet to take to the room but she was so abrupt I didn't press it and went to bed feeling aggrieved.

Shan't stay here again.

My husband and I booked into the Campanile Hotel in Metz Sud while on a motorbike holiday around Europe. This had not been pre-booked, we literally booked on the 13th July 2013 for one night. The greeting we received from the reception staff was non- existent, even rude and certainly not helpful. When we opened the door to our room it was like a prison cell, it was tiny and very warm. It was on the ground floor so we couldn't even get any air from the window as we seemed to be staying next door to a lot of noisy workman with a lot of coming and going. The shower was almost impossible to use and there was a cupboard with a quilt stuffed in to the extent that the door would not close. As I mentioned there was a lot of noise and that combined with the heat meant that neither of us enjoyed a good night’s sleep. For the privilege of this stay Campanile Hotels charged us 64 euros and wanted a further 9 euros if breakfast was required. As mentioned earlier we were touring round Europe as we have done many times before and can honestly say that this was the worst night’s stay we have ever experienced.
