“Great onsen! Great attractions! Great water park!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2011

You can stay for couple days in summer and still not finish everything in Nagashima between aqua park, attractions, onsen and shopping. It has something for any age, kids can play, father can soak in mineral water and wifes can shop! Perfect place for family holiday, especially in summer.

“"An excellent all-inclusive weekend!"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2011

Nagashima Spaland has it all! Want the quintessential Japanese experience? Head to the Onsen, where you can while away the hours in total sensory relaxation. Want to shop till you drop? There's the Jazz Dream Outlet Park right next door, complete with discount prices on brands you know and love. (Even excellent high-end goods). Seeking some thrills? Experience the wonder that is Spaland, with the Steel Dragon roller coaster - the most awesome roller coaster i've been on.. EVER!

If you're like me, you'll stay for a weekend and do it all!

My friend and I live in Osaka, so we bought some cheap Kintetsu line tickets and took the express trains from Tsuruhashi station (On the Osaka loop line)... all up it took 3 hours to get to Kuwana but it only cost ¥1500 for a one way ticket. The scenery once your out of the city is actually quite nice - just make sure you take a good book.

From Kuwana, there is an express bus to Nagashima Spaland (¥500) and it takes 20 minutes. There is also an express bus from Nagoya station (¥1000) and it takes 40 minutes.

My friend and I went shopping first, and there were some excellent bargains to be had. The outlet mall is quite large, and there is something for everybody. There was even a fire juggler performing in the courtyard. It was outrageously Japanese.

Then, at about 5pm, we headed over to the Onsen. It cost ¥1500 to enter (¥2100, if you arrive earlier in the day), which included unlimited time in the hot springs. My friend and I also booked a massage at the spa and enjoyed some ultimate pampering. The full menu of relaxation services is on the website (In Japanese only, unfortunately).

P.s None of the staff spoke English - so be prepared to pull out your woeful Japanese (like me) or your excellent body gestures)

We stayed at a hotel in Nagoya, but if you can afford it - stay at one of the hotels in Nagashima itself - saves a lot of money and time travelling between Kuwana/Nagoya and Spaland itself.

The next day was dedicated to Spaland. I'm such a big kid and I LOVE amusement parks. This one was pretty awesome. We went on the Steel Dragon twice as it was so good! The rides are a bit old, but the day was full of fun, and the shop is full of excellent souvenirs.

An unlimited rides/entry pass costs ¥4100 - otherwise you can pay ¥1500 to enter and pay for each one separately. Be warned, the good rides can be as expensive as ¥1000 each.

All in all, it was the perfect weekend incorporating EVERYTHING I love to do on a holiday. Shop, Relax and go on Crazy Rides.

“Great rides if looking a little dated.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2011

A great day out for roller coaster fans. Some of the rides looked a little dated, this was probably just due to older signs etc. The park features numerous rides including huge fast and unique roller coasters. Unlike some other Japanese Parks they get people on the rides fairly quickly so even long queues weren't too bad. The food is served using ticket machines and few have English translations. Finding the way there was interesting as we got the train to Nagashima which is like a ghost town compared to Tokyo etc. We later found buses run from the park back to Kuwana rail station although
