A great way to experience genuine Japanese hospitality in a Ryokan hotel. We came here with my folks' dear Japanese friends who booked this hotel. A Ryokan hotel is a traditional Japanese accommodation where you sleep on tatamis (mattresses) that are laid out for you on the floor.
This particular Ryokan was classy. The staff were extremely courteous and well-mannered. Though they hardly spoke English, they knew what we needed. We came in late in the afternoon after touring Kanazawa and it was perfect to go into the therapeutic Hot Springs. There's one for the ladies and one for the gentlemen. You go down from your rooms in your robes and disrobe in the lockers. Bathing in the hot springs is very relaxing and you can immediately feel its medicinal benefits.
Since we were a group of 15 pax, we had our own room where we dined so well. The second night was particularly memorable when we had our Kaiseki dinner. The fish was very fresh and the meat, tender. Everything was prepared and presented beautifully. The children had their own platters that were more kid-friendly.
Whenever we would go off on a tour, the whole lobby staff would escort us out and wave us pleasantries as we went on our trip.
Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience genuine Japanese hospitality.More
