Review of Gokarna Beach

Gokarna Beach
Ranked #6 of 12 things to do in Gokarna

Indian beaches are mostly picnic spots and 'mela' ground of all sorts. Beaches of Karnataka, however are still not that exploited. I prefer this to most Goa beaches. Gokarna is sleepy temple town. The beaches however have a mix of temple spill over pilgrims and budget foreign tourists.

The 3 beaches of Gokarna - Om, Half moon and paradise, have their unique charm and flavour. Om for the family tourist, Half moon for the romantic couple, and Paradise for the adventurous ones.

So, choose yours or visit all three.

Bon voyage !!

I would not recommend to visit this beach as it is very dirty. You can find anything from a diaper to beer bottle on beach. The gram-panchayat and the locals of the are should take some action to improve else there will not be any tourist after few years.

The beach derives its name because the shape of the beach is in the form of Cow's Ear. There is a beautiful Shiva temple and the pooja items are available in front of the temple. For people who love swimming the beach is very near the temple and can walk from the temple and enjoy the beach.
Many tourists love to go to Gokarna beach. Its huge and you can see the sunrise and sunset from the beach. Nice scenery around the beach.

gokarna deff is one of the best place to visit beaches in india. Its beautiful, adventurous and of course a very romantic one too. There are 4 main beaches in the village of gokarna... Kudle, om, half moon and paradise. All these are separated by small mountains. The trek from one beach to another is undoubtedly very scenic and picturesk. Boats are also available to take u from one beach to another. Charges vary from season to season and depending upon the no of customers to be taken in one trip. There are plenty of options in the gokarna mainland for stay but right on the beach options are quite limited. Most people opt for shacks on either the om or kudle beach. Not much option on the other two beaches. If u are a hygein consus, dese shacks r den not meant for u. The only decent place in budget and right on the beach is the hotel gokarna international on the kudle beach. There is one also in the mainland, dont get confused. Om beach is the most commercialized beach, the famous namaste cafe is also there. On sundays om has lot of local crowd too, and dats y me and my fren both loved the kudle. Not oly is it super beautiful, its the less crowded one. Its just that perfect beach to spend entire day and night in between sea sun and sand.

Wat to do: water sports, dolphin sightin, trek from one beach to another, boat rides from one beach to another especially the one from kudle to om is super beautiful, and of course sun sea and sand!!!

Wat not to do: drugs, don get into any kind of scuffle wid the locals or hippies, be careful of waves especially on half moon and paradise, don sit ontop of small small rocks on the sea shore... Waves @ dese rocks @ times can be too powerful nd deceptive (we almost got pulled in the sea and got bruised too)

where to eat: the best is the cafe right inside or adjacent to hotel gokarna int... Its really good. On om beach the namaste cafe is also decent. Other beaches don have much options for food.

Season: nov to end of feb max... After dis its all deserted. During new year its too crowded. Go in jan end feb first i feel.

What to carry- plenty of sunscreen, waterproof camera and wallet pouches, plenty of cash.

What to wear- anything light watever u wish to... Guys any thing is fine. Gals also nythin inc bikinis are fine but be ware of locals on om i feel.

most important suggestion: carry plenty of cash as atms are oly in the mainland and to reach the main land itself is a jhamela... No atms near the beach.
