Om Beach is pretty popular with tourists. There are no direct roads to the beach. The road ends on side of a cliff from where you have to take stairs to the beach. The stairs are well maintained though. The beach is family-friendly & well maintained. The sea is very calm here to swimming is not problem here, though there are rocky places here & there so beware of those. The beach has lot of café’s & restaurants for F&B but the price is on the higher side but u will get a lot of fresh sea-food. There is no place for staying though.

Overall a good place to go & spend your afternoon if you are visiting Gokarna.

I stayed here for 9 days in one of the shacks by the beach and had a lovely time. The crowd was fine, all travellers/backpackers coming to have a nice chill time. I stayed at Dolphin Bay and it was great, very cheap accommodation as well.
The beaches in India are not spectacular unless you go to the Andaman Islands. I think that the vibe of the beaches in the India is more of a hippy/easygoing one.
I will definitely go back. I just wish people could take care more of their beaches and maintain it clean. It is common to see a patch of plastic bottles and such...

Been visiting Om beach for the past 9 years where it has transformed from a near empty beach for people who would trek there to get to to it, to a crowded beach where people come by the hordes in various buses and cars and seem unaware of the possibility of keeping the place clean. Throwing bottles and food material while gawking at others and passing some obscene comments and sometime making aggressive gestures. We friends used to take up "clean the beach" campaigns on our visits there, and the business there do it at times too, but it needs to be a common endeavour failing which we will make our whole country into a dumping yard.

As for the beach per se, it offers a lovely walk and swim, has amazing views, walks across to the other beaches, food facilities which while not great are still something needed. Still amazingly wonderful after the late morning/afternoon/early evening hours when the day visitors are gone. A week would be the minimum ideal time to spend there at a stretch.

A must see !!

There are 5 beaches in Gakarna - Gokarna beach, Om beach, Kudle beach, Paradise, and Half-moon. I found Gokarna beach to be really dirty. Not sure if that was because of monsoon. But found Om beach to be really clean, We trekked the distance and so had a headland view of the beach. It's like 3-4 lunar bending, that specifically shapes it.

Changing room and Bath rooms are available at the entrance from main road. You need to climb 100 steps down to reach to the beach. The view of sea from those stairs looks amazing.

The beach was pretty clean. The stones on shores offers perfect place to capture photographs. There is a cafe on the sea shore and there is only a few accommodation options close to Om beach.
