Coming from a lovely other game reserve it is hard to compare and I try not to. Entering schotia's gate I felt: This is gonna be a different experience.
We saw lots of animals - that's for sure. But I felt very commercial: Driving with lots of jeeps and people of course one after the other, hunting for the best view. Too busy in my opinion. I didn't like the jeeps - they were half closed means from some seats (sitting in the front, we had no choice, because we were seated) you couldn't see properly. Dinner with lots and lots of people felt like in a canteen and the taste was similar.
After dinner the night drive started. We saw lions hunting - sure this was a life time experience - but again I felt the ranger is not passionate and yes we are tourists and we would like to see the animals but I had such a nice experience 2 days before so that's probably why I didn't like it so much.
Lodge (we stayed for 1 night) was nice and cosy, candle light, very romantic, just a tiny lamp, fireplace in the lodge. This was nice.
Breakfast: Like a canteen breakfast, no taste, very limited also for the quantity.More
