Local to Moulton and looking forward to it re-opening,atmosphere fantastic
Lovely open bar and restaurant what the old place needed.
Menu could have had more fish on in my opinion what we ate was well cooked and served my partners steak excellent not much came with my salmon and scallop dish a little more veg would have sufficed.
No one to greet you in and it's been said before Who is front of house there has to be a maîtred in this standard of restaurant to take your order and seat you young staff are good but have there limitations.
No one to pour wine bottle tops left on the table small things but if you ask the price you need to give the extras just a little tweak and you would be there.
We will be back however here's hoping they are quick learners

We stopped off for lunch at the newly opened Black Bull and were really impressed by the hugely warm welcome we received from all the staff. Our lunch was absolutely delicious and served in such lovely surroundings. We can't wait until the inn becomes residential towards the end of the year, when we will be back to enjoy more good hospitality and drink lots of lovely wine.

Congratulations on another winner!!

Many of us regulars over the years living in the area have missed the Bull during its three year closure and it was really good to once again enjoy lunch in this legend of a venue. The new owners have not held back in terms of the investment of what must be a very considerable sum in what is now, virtually, a completely new restaurant. Gone are the old fish bar, the railway carriage and the conservatory, and any trace of George & Audrey's french bistro in North Yorkshire. Here we now have chic northern metropolitan design, modern blond wood flooring, and hip private dining areas. Alas the comprehensive a la carte gallic menus of old are history, replaced by a minimalist choice of half a dozen dishes. Fish is still available, but only if your likes extend to (pricey) lobster and Dover sole, plus the ubiquitous fish 'n chips (their 'n). Check the website for a rather disappointing range of options. However the prix fixe lunch was fine and good value. Service was friendly and warm, if a little flakey, and we enjoyed our visit. We will, of course, return and look forward to pre lunch drinks on the new extensive patio on warmer spring and summer days. The owners are to be congratulated for their confidence and vision in bringing this northern gem back to life.

I am delighted that you enjoyed most aspects of your first visit to us since the re-opening of the Black Bull.

In regards to the menu i am aware that it is not as large as was avalible in the past, however we do feel that with 20 main courses to choose from 10 of which being a combination of fish and shellfish dishes that we have produced a comphesive menu.

As a result of your feedback moving forward we have introduced a stunning Halibut dish to our menu as well as the introduction of another verbal daily changing fish dish.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review I look forward to welcoming you back in the near future

We have stayed & eaten at other inns in this small chain and been impressed by the quality so were glad to know that they were re-opening the Black Bull as it is much close to home. We visited for lunch on the Friday of their first week. The food & surroundings were excellent & the staff were pleasant, friendly & attentive without being intrusive. Unfortunately there was a mix up with our order which meant quite a delay before our starters arrived but after that everything went smoothly. The issue was later resolved in a very satisfactory & discreet manner. We will not hesitate to visit again & to recommend it to friends.
