The Tay Motel in Waubaushene is right off Exit 149 of Route 400 (about 70 miles north of Toronto, Canada) in an area (the Georgian Bay of Lake Huron) popular with vacationers from Toronto and Buffalo.
I’ve stayed in the motel for several days on numerous summers. It’s been owned by the same family and has been modernized and renovated over the years. The motel provides good, basic accommodation with a nicely decorated bathroom, comfortable bed, small bedside table with lamp, simple dining table & chairs, cable TV (with, surprise, lots of sports channels), refrigerator, a coat rack, and small a/c. This is a drive-up motel, and all rooms are on the ground floor with parking for your vehicle just a few feet away. Both the bedroom and bathroom have openable small, high back windows that allow for ventilation. There is no Wi-Fi available. There are plenty of insects in this area of Canada, and you’re sure to find some interesting varieties resting on the exterior of your room’s door at night and early mornings – but you wouldn’t be here in the first place if that sort of thing deterred you.
In summary – nothing fancy, but an ideal base for those taking advantage of the area’s outdoor attractions.
