We stayed in a two bedroom lakefront villa for 4 nights. The room was roomy, warm and well equipped including laundry and full kitchen. Views were outstanding from our room. Good location for day trip to Mt Cook etc. Only issue was our room was not ready until late afternoon

Kia Ora Dianne M,

Thank you for choosing Peppers Bluewater Resort for your stay.

We are pleased to know that the room allocated to you was able to meet your expectations.

Regarding the delay in your room preparedness apologies for failing to meet your expectations as your room was not ready at the advertised 2.00pm check in time. It is clear that we advertise 2pm and this is our own expectation so it is very disappointing to the whole team when this is not achieved.

Regrettably any delayed checkout usually creates a domino effect on the team’s tight cleaning scheduling that result in delays at the other end ie the check-in time.

To overcome this challenge our Front Desk team will often do everything they can to change the room the guest was allocated to the same type that has already been cleaned. However, this often is not an option at a property with many different room types that is usually heavily booked. There are also often lots of guests requests ,like families wanting to be close together, or elderly wanting to be close to Reception or on ground floor level, or those who have paid the higher rates for Lake views who cannot be moved, or quieter room requests etc, so moving allocated rooms is a challenge.

Our apologies again for the delay with your check-in time and thank you very much for your patience. If you have the opportunity to travel to and stay in Tekapo again please don’t hesitate to contact us and the team will ensure your stay runs smoothly from the advertised check-in time right through to checkout, and we will be able to deliver the standard of service that is expected from a Peppers property.

Kind Regards

We arrived at 6pm after a long days drive. A 40 minute delay because of housekeeping being short staffed while checking in seemed to be an omen. We were eventually “upgraded” to a lakefront room. Let’s start with the good. The room was well temperature controlled, it had a balcony and the view was lovely. The bed was comfortable. We were also compensated with free in room internet (usually $40). The room was a 3rd floor “apartment” narrow stairs only, the room was hurriedly made up with several items missing eg the tea/coffee array had not been restocked and was not restocked during our stay. There was only one towel and im not convinced the linen had been changed, just remade. Also while the view is beautiful there is also a main road running directly in front of the room and only single glazing and ill fitting on the windows leading to significant traffic noise. Fortunately the traffic dies down in the evening. I also mention it is called an apartment because while the in room guide gives instructions for oven, dishwasher, washing machine etc. none of these facilities exist. The refrigerator was also not functioning properly, leaking water and not freezing. no glassware other than the bathroom glasses and wine glasses. Overall this is a cheaply made, shoddily run, resort for masses of visitors on a bus, with a price tag suggesting a far more salubrious experience. It’s fine for a place to sleep, but adjust your expectations.

We stayed in a suite with two rooms and an additional sofa bed to accommodate 5 people. The location is excellent with a short walk to the lake and local shops.

We decided that Peppers fell short of an excellent rating as the rooms were a little tired and breakfast was average.

Staff were helpful but so focussed on their job they seemed to forget to smile!

Still a great place to stay and I noticed rooms were being refurbished so you may be in luck if you visit soon.

The internet Wi-Fi is restricted (understandable in such a remote location) which came as a blessing as the teenagers ran out of data quickly and enjoyed the visit to this stunning location!
