“Great rooms, great location.”
Reviewed March 29, 2010

We were very pleased with our room. It was spacious, had a fantastic modern bathroom and we had partial views of Lake Tekapo. It was just a 2 min walk to the lake, shops and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay and thought the quality of the hotel was very good however we felt that at $206 it was a bit pricy. We paid $199 for a 2 bedroom apartment in Terrace Downs which was even more luxurious and had stunning views. The hotel advertises as a resort but has no pool or fitness centre. It is basically a hotel with a restaurant definitely not a resort.

We stayed one night with our friends who were on honeymoon. Fortunatley for them we picked the worse room.
There was washing outside a room wiindow opposite us for over 5 hours (what a view)
The lake view resort only had a view if you rented a room at the front so our view consisted of other rooms air condiitoning unit.
There was a dirty wet towel left in the bathroom with hair on it
There was a coffee plunger in the room but no plunger coffee. The rooms were dusty
When we initally complaiined we were told there was nothing they could do but the manager gave us a disount. Still it wasnt worth the money and I wouldnt recommend it. Brigh sunlight in your eyes over breakfast with not many tables to move too.

Stayed in Bluewater as a little treat to ourselves after some serious tramping adventures. We have stayed in a few peppers resorts and must say the service, accommodation standards and the food (ohhh the food) has always been sublime. Whilst the room was nice and the architecture pretty impressive in terms of its over design in the landscape we were a little disappointed. It wasn't bad it just wasn't great. We stayed in other places that were much cheaper and had a much better atmosphere and service. We were also a little disappointed in the food. Again it wasn't bad it just wasn't great. The staff looked tired and as we ate there breakfast and dinner and than breakfast again the next day it was the same sad looking staff. They were real troopers and very professional but I commented that they appeared to work long shifts one poor girl said she had not had a day off in weeks. I guess it was over the busy season but still it did reflect on management. Also worth noting we stayed here to get access to Mount Cook and whilst it was a beautiful drive it is still quite a long way especially if like us you wish to spend the whole day there. We had to make a mad dash back in time for our 8pm dinner as were told the kitchen closed at 9pm. This is not the hot spicy peppers we are use too. We like it HOT HOT HOT.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Peppers Resort in Lake Tekapo, which was the first place at which we stayed on our 3 week honeymoon to New Zealand, so we splurged a bit for a larger room.

The accommodations themselves are first rate, with the room itself being very spacious and comfortable, with a nice view of Lake Tekapo itself. In addition, it was the first time my wife has ever encountered heated bathroom floors which delighted her to no end.

The surrounding area is quite nice, with Lake Tekapo itself very much the highlight and on a nice day, its quite a spectacular site with the mountains in the background and the church in the foreground.

While definitely not a criticism, we did find their restaurant to be solid, if unspectacular.

Overall, for the money, the Peppers resort represents a good value overall, and we would definitely consider coming back here next time we are in NZ!

On arrival at this new complex/ motel we were upgraded to a one bedroom apartment. This was beautifully appointed, with stunning lake views. It had excellent facilities, including a washer/dryer, a dishwasher, an oven and a beautiful bathroom. It was a few minutes walk from the lake.

Stayed 2 nights, on arrival no record of our booking and confusion with another guest of same surname. Eventually given twin bedded room that was comfortable and clean but over the kitchen/restaurant which resulted in some noise during night. Reasonable views of the lake and within short walk of the village.

Think would have been very nice if you were in a villa room. Unfortunately, we did not book anything at Lake Tekapo and arrived with very little accommodation options available. We stayed in hotel room accommodation that was extremely small unless you were actually in bed. It was a beautiful spot but unfortunately we had no views. The cost of $150 per night a little pricy too given the size of the room. Would recommend if guests were staying in villa accommodation.
