“it was fine, but not great”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2013 via mobile

This resort was probably the best looking one in town and it has a very modern look on the outside. however we almost Missed the entrance when we arrived at night, the sign was not very visible for such a big complex. We were allocated to one of those 'small boxes' mentioned in other reviews, it is even smaller than the ones in New York and HK! Its more suitable for 1 night stay where you dont do and need much in room, or for people travelling alone. If you are travelling in winter season for skiing or with a few luggages, you wong be able to move inside the room, book the bigger rooms instead.

Bathroom is nice and clean, heater is provided which is quite handy.

No free wifi provided, but can be purchased through reception.

Overall it was a good stay but next time we may try others, or book a big room.

Kia ora niki n,

Many thanks for your recent comments, and we're glad that you had an enjoyable stay.

We do regret that our sign is not as prominant as we would like. There are major lighting restrictions in the area, due to the famous Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Night Sky above us.

I certainly agree that we do have some nice big apartments if you are looking for that extra space, particularly over a longer stay.

We hope to see you again in the future.

Warm regards,

We had booked a two bedroom apartment at the resort and when we reached our apartment there was food odor. The apartment had partial lake views and the interiors, though spacious were not maintained well and overall it gave a messy feel. The resort is right on the highway which I personally did not like. The staff was not at all courteous. I would not recommend this property for the kind of money they charge.

We booked a Room with a lake view which was lovely, the bathroom was huge, we were here for just one night, it was very expensive. We had dinner in the resorts restaurant, meal was great we could not fault. Breakfast was another story, we were boxed into our table by suitcases that a large group of Asian Tourists left by us ,we had to ask staff to help move them so we could get out, the other guests were very loud and a couple of arguments broke out, we spoke to managment about this but they didn't really seem to care. The buffet food was cold, if we were to have breakfast here again I think we would order of the menu.

Room Tip: Found Lake View Room suffered from Traffic Noise.

Kia ora Vanessa929,

Thank you for your recent review.
Please accept my humble apologies for a breakfast experience that fell so short of the mark. This is certainly not in-keeping with our service standards, and I will ensure your feedback is raised with our management team.
On a more positive note, I am thrilled that you enjoyed your room and had such a memorable dining experience in our Rakinui Restaurant.

We would hope to see you back again in the future.

if you pay for the larger rooms with views. They have some very cramped studios with no view for folks with more of a budget - we switched to the lake view and it was well worth it! Top floor, huge room, excellent views, upgraded bathroom. The restaurant has good food, not too pricy, but McKenzie's in town has Stonegrill dining, a very unique way to cook your own meat.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, get a lake view king. The units closest to the road aren't too noisy and...

We stayed here for a night and it was the most expensive accommodation we stayed in for our whole trip
The room was spacious with great fittings and had a nice view of the lake as well
Nice spot but can't say it was great value for money

This resort was not what we expected. We left the booking Bluewater resort to friends who might have been misled by the advertising. Our room was a tiny, boxlike place with a bathroom which was about one-half the size of the accommodation. That didn't make sense.
Two of us crammed into the room. Luckily, the bed was comfortable as that was where we had to sit.
The restaurant had an unusual menu - hare was on the list - and the wine was absurdly overpriced. (We ate at the pub which had a more conventional menu and wine more reasonably priced. The food at the pub was excellent by the way!)
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone given our experience. If you are inclined to stay at this 'resort', I suggest you find out beforehand what your room is like.

Kia ora BowralNSW,

We appreciate your honest feedback.
The Standard Hotel Room is unfortunately not blessed for size, but is functional if you are looking for a 'sleep & go' type option.
We are disappointed that you did not like the menu choices or the wine prices. We do feel that the wine prices are consistent with equivalent venues in the marketplace. The menu itself serves to highlight unique, local ingredients that best represents the region. We can appreciate that hare is not for everyone, but we do have more familiar items on offer.

Sincere thanks,

Andrew M Freak

The Peppers Bluewater Resort was ideally situated with views of Lake Tekapo, which is an amazing blue lake. We arrived slightly early but took the advice of the receptionist to go up to the lookout at Mt. John which was well worth it, unbelievable views.
We were also advised to visit the hot springs, and this was also a great tip. Nice views over the mountains while enjoying the hot spa pools.
On our return the room was ready, spacious two bedroom apartment with all the mod cons.
