Peppers Bluewater Resort

Peppers would have to be the nicest resort in Lake Tekapo, the quality of the room was top notch, the service was great too. We had a noisy fan when we were trying to get to sleep and one call to reception and it was fixed 5 minutes later. My only gripe is the room was small, okay for an overnighter but I will stay in a bigger room next time. If you're planning on staying at Lake Tekapo then you will not go wrong with Peppers

Great stuff, and thank you! Excellent to hear that you enjoyed yourself in Lake Tekapo, and we really appreciate your recommendation of our resort. I apologise that the fan was an issue during the night, but I am pleased our team were able to fix the problem so promptly.

If you are travelling North to Christchurch from the Lakes area I would recommend this resort as an okay place to stay. Service was good but the beds and room size were a little short of our expecatations considering what we paid.We booked direct so try an online booking agent to see if you can get it a little cheaper. I wasnt overly disappointed and we had such lovely accommodation in Queenstown that we were a little spoiled. I would stay agin though as it has a nice atmosphere and is centrally located and as I said the service was good.

Room Tip: Try and book online through a provider to get cheaper rate.

We were excited to stay at the Peppers Bluewater Resort based on the reviews and pictures but were disappointed upon arrival. Our room was so small that both of our suitcases could barely fit and be opened. The room was clean and the bathroom/shower was nice. We also had no view of the lake. You have to either request a room with a balcony, a room on the top floor, or a suite which are all more expensive than the basic room. For the price and location to the lake, and being a halfway point between Queenstown and Christchurch it was fine for our one night stay.

Kia ora Leah_M2010,

Thank you for taking the time to comment on our Trip Advisor site. We are glad that you found our property to be so functional for your one night stay.

We are naturally disappointed that you did not find your room to be more comfortable. We do endeavour to best indicate across all our public sites that our standard hotel rooms do not feature a lake view. If the lake view is what you are after, I would certainly recommend our one or two bedroom villas in the future.

Many thanks,

I stopped at the Peppers Bluewater Resort for 1 nights in March 2013 in a twin one bedroomed villa.

Summary
A modern and sprawling resort with different room styles, excellent location for touring the local area, close to Mount Cook and the Southern Alps, plenty of activites to keep you busy near by.

This review is based on my stay in room 505 B which is on the ground floor.

The rooms amenities include: kitchen area with fridge/freezer, stove, oven, microwave, cooking utensils, pans, crockery, cutlery, glass ware, coffee machine, kettle, dishwasher, washer/dryer, living/dining area, work table, flat screen TV, private balcony, patio area, walk in shower, huge bath, complimentary cleaning products, complimentary tea and coffee, iron & board, quilts on the bed.

Hotel amenities include:- restaurant/bar, mountain bike hire, self laundry facilities

Located near the shores of Lake Tekapo & surrounded by the spectacular landscapes of the Southern Alps. Located within the burgeoning Mount Cook & Mackenzie District. Just a short walk to Lake Tekapo, the local town and the Church Of The Good Shepherd.

My room 505 B was more like a residential apartment than hotel accommodation and is huge, spread over 2 floors it has everything you will ever need, with great views overlooking the resorts duckpond and the surrounding Southern Alps.

Breakfast was included in the room rate and is buffet style with all the usual fair of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, baked beans, tomatoes, selection of breads/toast, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, fruit juice, tea & coffee

I ate in the restaurant on the night I stayed there, the food was excellent, however the service was slow and in my opinion the portions were a little small.

My only regret with Peppers Bluewater Resort is that I only stopped for one night, next time I stay here and will certainly increase the length of my stay here.

Room Tip: Book a Villa

We stopped at this resort for one night on our journey from Chrustchurch to Queenstown and it was a great decision. The hotel is located pretty much halfway between the two so makes the perfect rest stop. The hotel itself is spotless and comfortable with helpful staff and absolutely breathtaking views over the lake. We were able to sit on the decking and watch the sunset outside our bedroom which was really beautiful.
It is only a short drive to the Church of the Good Shepherd and the Mt John lookout too which are must sees. You can also have breakfast or lunch on Mt John - a view that is hard to beat!
Lake Tekapo itself is a lovely, peaceful spot, but worth noting that local restaurants close quite early.
Would definitely book here again if I was travelling through.

We spent a night here while driving from Queenstown to Christchurch. While our room had all the usual facilities, it was REALLY small! And I'm talking Paris and London small. We certainly expected a better room for the price we had paid. Surprisingly, this was probably the only room we stayed in the south island that had an air conditioner.

I'd recommend skipping this place and staying elsewhere closer to the lake. It certainly won't be difficult to find better value for money in this little town.

Kia ora lifofifo,

Thank you for reviewing your time with us at Peppers Bluewater Resort.
We regret that you did not find the standard hotel room that you had booked to your liking. They are indeed quite small which we do our utmost to highlight to travel agents and guests alike. If you are looking for a more spacious room next time, we would certainly recommend looking at our deluxe lake view rooms, or indeed one of our larger apartments.
All rooms feature heat pumps, which provide reverse cycle heating and cooling. This is a great feature as the summer months can be very dry and warm, and of course winter brings snow and quite a chill.

Many thanks,

We did not book direct with the hotel but online through booking firm. We expected a standard room but both us and the friends we travelled with did not expecta small room with a small window looking out to a bank. All four of us plus another couple presented ourselves at Reception. The staff who tried their best had their hands tied by a management who could not(or would not) see us.
Eventually they said they would upgrade us to a suite for additional money. When we arrived one bedroom was facing the lake the other a room even smaller than to first offered. Upstairswas an enormous lounge. The small bedroom had about 3feet each side of the bed and less at the base. The window was about 15 inches. The balcony was unusable as the bird mess wason all the furniture. Not a good 3 nights

Room Tip: Check very carefully which rooms you are having.

Kia ora jennyv545,

I appreciate you taking the time to share your recent experiences with us.
Certainly I am disappointed that your experience was not a more positive one.
We do advertise that our standard hotel rooms are quite compact and do not feature a lake view. I'm glad that our front office team were able to assist you in regards to an upgrade, which unfortunately it seems you were not 100% satisfied with. The apartments are compact in nature on the lower level, designed to maximise upstairs living space and showcase the view available of the lake.
Our team are more than happy to escalate concerns where appropriate and we do always have a Duty Manager available in that regard.

With thanks,
