It's not a hotel stayed for 2 nights clean and tidy but no wardrobe just a hat stand, very handy for restaurants and shops, but it is a very small town.
great scenery, we flew over the glaciers and Mt Cook from here, very good

wow! for a backpacker this place is a 4 star hotel!
great and beautiful location, fits the name "scenic resort" perfectly!
rooms are spacious, cleaned up really well and the most people in a "dorm" are 4! that's nothing compared to other hostels with 8 people dorms!
each bathroom is also a shower, very convenient and clean!
kitchen is together with lounge which is nice and cozy...
nice person at reception (forgot his name, sorry..)
I bet the couples rooms are amazing.

Stayed here for 1 night enroute to Queenstown. Lake tekapo is typically a very small town, and you would probably be able to walk around the place. The resort location is situated very near to the church, and is within walking distance to the lake.

The accomodation is basic, and as per what others have mentioned, it is rather small. However, we got the corner room at ground level, and have a rather good view of the lake. My wife and I really enjoyed sitting outside the apartment, with a glass of wine in hand, and enjoying the views. Fantastic.

I did not really have much interaction with the staff, except for Glory. So, can;t say much about that. carpark is a little cramped, especially with the MPVs.

Pre-booked this motel based on reviews from TripAdvisor and was not disappointed. Location is second to none and the view from the balcony unbeatable!

Clean and comfortable and friendly service. Plenty of restaurants all within two minutes walk. Had a great night there!

We stayed one night at Lake Tepako during our tour of the South Island. We had not pre-booked and found not a lot of choice of motel accommodation in Lake Tekapo (plenty of B&B) as it is a very small town. The motel is in an excellent location situated right on Lake Tekapo. However, not unless you are in a studio room (all booked when we arrived) which faces the lake, or the very end one bedroom unit, views of the lake are limited. We found our one bedroom comfortable, double bed in one room, single bed and 2 seater sofa in the lounge, dining table and chairs in the kitchenette. Rooms are basic but adequate. Okay for an overnight stop, but wouldn't contemplate longer stays. Eateries are all within walking distance, with several to choose from.

We arrived late into Lake Tekapo from Queenstown and had intended to check into the Godley Hotel. Horrified by the state of the room, we quickly left (Godley) and we found the Lake Tekapo Scenic Resort by chance.

The Manager (Don Young) was very welcoming & showed me the only room that he had left for the night. We loved it & checked in for a couple of days. He took the trouble to turn the heater on in the room for us whilst we went to get our luggage from the car (so that it was nice & warm by the time we walk into the room). He even gave us complimentary wifi for an hour! We found New Zealanders were very friendly but this man came tops!!

The room we had was not too big but adequate for my husband & me plus our small son (there was a queen bed & a roll out sofa bed). It comes equipped with toiletries, flat screen TV, kettle, toaster, plates, coffee, tea plus free shortbread cookies each day!

The best thing about the room was the PERFECT VIEW of the lake from our room. It was like a slice of heaven. Simply stunning.

Note: Room was clean, fairly new & close to shops.

The only "negative" about this room is the lack of privacy when one is in the bathroom/toilet. The bathroom window does not have any blinds/ curtains & the bathrooms are in the walk path of guests to their respective rooms. Although the window is frosted, guests tend to open the windows to unfog the bathroom. As a result we can sometimes inadvertently make eye contact with passerbys peeking in while sitting on the loo!

Nice clean hotel with a great view of lake tekapo and the alps. Conveniently located along the highway with shops and restaurant just few steps away. Room is simple but very sufficient for a night sleep. Overall its a nice place to stay in lake tekapo and if ever will come back in near future, will surely stay here again.
