I can't say enough about this place... it is fantastic. The units are comfortable, clean and have fantastic views. The hosts are welcoming and friendly. I stayed here for two nights at the beginning and end of a snowshoeing adventure up to Rex Simpson Hut in the Two Thumbs range. The motel is located outside the 'CBD' of Tekapo but it is only a short walk and it is nicer out there as the views are uninterrupted and it is quiet. The little historic church is only meters away and the statue of the dog - both worth a visit and photo!
I would recommend this place to anyone looking for quality accommodation in Tekapo. I will definitely be staying here again when I come back!

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent!!

If u talk about untouched Virgin beauty of lake and mountains then it has to be the Lake tekapo . And from this apartment hotel the lake is right across ,

The apartment is very nice with spacious rooms and the front apartment has @ bedrooms which is great with windows and doors opeing to stunning lake views .

The couple who runs the hotel is really warm and Nice . as we arrived they gave my son a lot of toys to play with .

The kitchennete is fully equipped and has milk for the child also .

The car can be parked just besides your apartment and u can just be at ease .

Wonderfull place to stay for couple of nights . Just amazing beauty and peace

Room Tip: Take a front apartment which has two bedrooms

Only had one night here unfortunately. Zita & her son Stefan were the most welcoming hosts. Our ground floor apartment was spotless, spacious and had a fantastic view of the lake and mountains. We soaked up the atmosphere sitting out in our own little courtyard with a glass of wine. Easy walking distance to the Church of the Good Shepherd; great location and wonderful accommoation.

Room Tip: We stayed in Unit 1

We stayed here for three lovely nights back in January. Our lovely 1 bedroom apartment had a marvellous view of the stunning turquoise lake tekapo. The apartment had everything we needed - kitchen, separate bedroom, separate bathroom and of course the view. The apartment was spotless! We were able to walk into town each night for dinner which was really handy. We easily drove to Mt Cook for a boat tour of Tasman Glacier. I highly recommend this day out. We are now just planning when to go back to The Chalet Boutique Motel, but in a different season for the different scenry.

I wouldn't really call this place a motel, more like luxury, boutique apartments. Some of the best accommodation we have ever stayed in, amongst our world travels. We stayed at the beginning of Winter, so Lake Tekapo was rather quiet, but we liked the serenity and the lake was still an amazing shade of blue.

We stayed in a studio apartment overlooking the lake, with a Queen & a single bed. We're a young family travelling with a 5 year old, so it was the perfect size for us. All the fittings & furnishings are top class and there's a kitchenette with a fabulous selection of teas & plunger coffee. The bathroom had heated floors and when we arrived the heater in the main room had already been turned on for us, so we arrived to a warm & toasty place to rest our feet.

Walter was so friendly and accommodating and gave us lots of suggestions on where to eat and places to visit. The Chalet is walking distance to the Good Shepherd church and the dog monument, and about a 5-10 minute walk to the little village. It's a short drive to the Mt John observatory and the Lake Tekapo Hot Pools, ice skating and snow tubing. So many things to do in a tiny town!

I would gladly stay here for a week next time, it really is a home away from home, and such a comfort to find somewhere so beautiful!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with lake views...newly and beautifully renovated with all the comforts of a luxury b...

We have just spent two nights in Unit 5, a 2 bedroom cottage apartment and we were delighted with the accommodation. The location is great with the most fabulous view across to the lake and we were fortunate to be there when the autumn weather was clear and sunny. It is also really quiet, being far enough away from the town and main road but still in a convenient location.

The cottage is spacious and well equipped. The living/kitchen area and bedrooms have been renovated and are mostly tastefully decorated (however, I'm not a lover of artificial flowers). The bathroom and toilet are yet to be updated but are more than adequate. There is a fabulous fire in the lounge which we lit at night and during the day the sun poured in through all the glass - it was a very light and warm place. However, surprisingly there were no electric blankets on the beds.

We really enjoyed our stay and were disappointed to have to leave this little piece of paradise.

We stayed at the Chalet for 3 nights in the Henkel Hut for our Wedding in Feb 2012. The rest of our family had 3 other units. The venue was fantastic with breath taking views over Lake Tekapo and the furnishings very comfortable. The hosts Zita and Walter made our stay and guests one in a million they put everything in to make our stay/wedding so personal and special. We had an amazing time and can not wait to go back.
