Stayed 1 night. Doesn't look great from the main road. But you entered the apartment, you will be charmed. Very well-equipped, spacious and beautiful apartment with a good view of Lake Tekapo and the Church of the Good Shepherd. Friendly and helpful owner.
Good spread of complementary fruits and chocolates. Very nice, modern and super-clean bathroom. Also a very good spread for continental breakfast. Nice and beautiful private garden just outside the apartment, which allows you to look down down into the river about 15 to 20 metres below the cliff. The place is definitely worth it. Thanks Marie for a great stay.

We stayed for 1 night at Marie Therese b&b. The accommodation very generous in size. There is a large kitchen, a large living area with a queen size bed, 3 single beds in the separate bedroom. Everywhere are lovely thoughtful touches- chocolates and fruits in arrival, continental breakfast in the fridge, lovely lavender scented soaps and shampoos and plenty of reading materials. From the main room, you stepped out into a grass area with the most breathtaking view of the mountains and unbelievably blue lake, Tekapo.

There were some negatives which were not significant and did not impact our overall experience. One is the acoustics of the room. Yes at night we could hear the owners moving around in their room upstairs. However by the time we got to bed around 10.30/11, the noise disappeared when the owners went to bed. There is a sensor light outside the bedroom which came on at 12.30am which was a bit annoying. However I do wonder if I had been asleep at the time whether I would have noticed.

Overall it was a very good place to stay. A lot of thought was put into making the guests feel welcome. I would recommend it.

Stuck for a place to stay, we happened to run across this place and decided to give it a go. There were plenty of beds, the rooms and bathroom was clean, and the hosts were very nice. It's located pretty much across the road from the main strip in town, so fantastic location. All up I thought it represented decent value for money and I'd stay again.

Superb location with excellent view from the garden overlooking the lake. Very spacious room but unfortunately let down by the fact that there is little sound insulation from the floor of the main house upstairs. Every slight noise, light switch and foot-step was amplified, and being woken at 6am wasn't the best start to the day. A great shame because otherwise this would have definitely been a 5 star.

We were made very welcome on arrival and provided with information on local sights and areas of interest. The room was spacious and very well appointed. It was nice to have the continental breakfast delivered the evening before, allowing us to breakfast in our own time (so we enjoyed a lay-in the next morning without fear of being disturbed). This is a very peaceful location. No noise at night at all so we enjoyed a well needed rest. The accommodation is only a short walk from the lake and town, with lots of nearby places to eat. If travelling with children the second room (with twin beds) is a bonus. All in all an excellent facility.

When I made the booking for Marie Therese I asked whether it was quiet after hearing that the room was underneath the owners' house. It was lovely and quiet when we arrived with the owner out at a function. The bedrooms and bathroom are clean and very nicely furnished. Comfortable bed and lovely outlook. Thoughtful touches included some flowers and choccies on the table, hand cream etc. Great spot within walking distance of the shops and church / lake. Lots of positives unfortunately let down by some negatives in our case.

The second bedroom had an internal door to the owner's laundry area which couldn't be locked from our side. With a child alone in the room I would have preferred to have been able to lock it.

THe owners share their net access, but you have to ask for the password, which we weren't able to do till the next day as the owner was out.

We had not long gone to sleep on the first night when we were woken at 11pm by scampering dogs and the owner's footsteps above, followed by the answering machine playing back messages. We heard footsteps again at 6am the following morning. Even with light footsteps the floor makes loud cracking noises which disturbed us when trying to sleep, but did not bother us when we were awake & moving around ourselves.

Fruit and yoghurt were good, but bread, cereal and milk provisions were a bit meager. Two 300ml bottles of milk were provided for two adults and a child, for a two day stay. Not enough for breakfast let alone a cup of tea. We were given 6 slices of bread each day, left out the night before, covered by glad wrap on a plate. Only a few pieces extra and you could provide a whole loaf and avoid the 'rationed' feeling. The cereal was a selection of small travel boxes (suitable for kids?), and about half were past the best before date. Still fine to eat, but I personally would only provide the freshest for guests.

The next night we stayed up late packing and so were not disturbed by any noise. In the morning we were all woken before our alarm by the dog above barking and scampering suddenly, which didn't set us up well for a 13 hour day of travel home.

This place has the potential to be great, but was let down by strange breakfast, and lack of noise attenuation which means a good night's sleep can't be assured. Some attention to acoustics would go a long way to addressing the problem. We won't go back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but would have preferred breakfast prepared for us in the morning rather than left from the night before. Having said that, we could live with it and would definitely recommend this stay.
